I am thinking about getting a goat and am wondering what is entails, what you need to know, and any general information anyone can tell me. I saw them on petfinder and have always wanted one. I have enough land, I just don't know anything about owning them, or if someone with no goat experience is a suitable owner for that matter.

I adopted a hamster over the weekend. When I put my finger near the cage, she acted desperate to get at me to bite. I tried slowly reaching into the cage later and she attacked. I've owned several hamster previously and none acted like this. Is there a way to train them not to bite, or is this something she will always do?

Okay so I have a hamster and I found her yesterday in her cage lieing on the ground! and I taped on the cage like 5 times and she did nothing, Her two babies live with her and she didn't have anything like physically wrong with her so I don't think they got in to a fight. We picked her up witha paper plate and put her gentley in a new cage by her self. She will not move at all but she is still breathing, could she be hibernating? I don't know but I am really scared cause I love her alot, we found her last night at this time and she is still breathing. PLease can some one tell me what is wrong and if there is anything I can do for her. =[

Thank you so much and also, please don't make any rude remarks because I love her soo much.

...such as calling for the end of racing them so young on underdeveloped bones? These horses are all born in April, and the next Jan. 1 are called a year old - so on their REAL 1st birthday, they are raced as 2 yr olds. Equivalant to making a 10 year old human run marathons repeatedly! Small wonder these tragedies happen as regularly as they do. Would you like to see this stopped & other changes made to actually make this sport made safer?

I got a really great deal on a saddle on Ebay, but it is a half size smaller than what I should get. I am 5'3. According to my instructer and other websites, I should get a 16.5 inch saddle, but I bought a 16 inch.
Will it be ok? It is a close contact saddle. Made by Crosby.
For once in my life I wish I was shorter!
I really like it, so I hope it fits.

She is a great riding horse and once you catch her you can do most anything with her (besides the back feet thing) I just got her last summer and its been too cold to really mess with her a whole lot, I plan on really working with her this spring but I don't want to freak her out or anything I just want her to trust me and know I won't hurt her. I think that every time the other owner caught her they rode her or worked her in some way. So I think that she associates the halter or people as being a pain or just don't want anything to do with people. She's not really a people horse... just a down to business "ride me and then leave me alone" type attitude. You can't hardly even pet her. I like her but I really wished she was friendlier. I'm hoping to help her in that department as she truly is a wonderful horse and has great potential. She just needs help. Also she is 16 yrs old... will she be set in her ways? Thanks in advance!

She acts like she wants to kick me and I don't really feel like a migraine so I need to find out the best way to train her to let me mess with her back feet so I won't have her falling all over the place when the farrier ties up her foot to shoe her.

I have a cat, a hamster, a rabbit, a ferret and I just got a little dog. I have them all over the house in different pens/ cages. I think that it is time to give the rabbit to a good home. It is too cold to have them outside.

My wife is an animal lover...we have 3 cats and take care of ferals in the neighborhood.

Today, she read on the news that they killed the horse known as Barbaro.

Since hearing the news, my wife has left work early and is crying her eyes out at home... I'm talking pure hysteria here!!!

I'm obviously not leaving work early to comfort her as she cries for a horse she had no personal contact with at any point in her life...

Now, she is looking to donate money to a foundation to help horses (a big waste of money in my mind)

What can I do to snap her out of this? She shouldn't be crying over any animal, let alone a horse who had a good life (I mean, this horse won the kentucky derby, I'm sure it had all the privilidges in life including money, fame and female horses)
