I am doing an interview with someone on animal rights for my newspaper. I am new, and I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on what to ask. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Do you know what animal rights are?
What is your opinion what animal rights should be?
Do you feel people respect animal rights?

Heres a few. Hopefully this will get you started in the right direction.

Reasearch groups like PETA, and ask about the subjects they talk about, like opinions on fur coats and lab animal research. But try to balance the questions so it's not confrontational. Do not bring your own beliefs into the interview. Try to address questions that you think could go both ways, like are you vegetarian or vegan, and if so why.

Try to be interested in their lifestyle, even if it's not your own, and allow them to talk about what they seem to be most passionate about, whether it is the eating of meat or the treatment of lab animals and/or food animals with less respect than other animals, like pets (cats and dogs and the like).

a great question that will get plenty of responce is to ask them about their views on exotic pets and the importing of them from other countries and about venomoids (removing the venom glands from poisonous snakes that are going to be kept as pets or breeders).. then theres always the peta favorite "how do you view the treatment of circus animals"..

a good report should say what it is they do, what is it they belive and what their actions are in regards to their goals in promoting animals rights including why it is importent to them and why others should get involved

Well, it might help to ask what they mean by "animal rights"! There are lots of different definitions out there. You might ask them how their opinion changes for domestic animals versus farm or wild animals too.

What animals are you asking about? Please be specific. If one question is about dogs attacking humans, I believe the pet owner should be held accountable, because all dogs should be on a secured leash outdoors. If the dog has a history of being violent and attacking, the law would prevail.
