Your probably handling it wrong. Few healthy hamsters bite for no reason.
Make sure you haven't washed your hands or touched another animal or strong smelling food before you go near it or else you won't smell right and it'll think it's being attacked.Don't try and handle it if it's asleep or just woken up or is eating or drinking and gently sccop it up from the sides with both hands don't grap and squeese it or anything-if you do any of these things you deserve to be bitten! Also they are most happy in the evening or at night as thats when they are awake in the wild so be sure to try and handle it then.
If it still bites and you are handling it right then it may be feeling ill so take it to a vet.

How old is it? where did you get it from?
if it is still young and you have not had it for very long then you have the right to take it back to the pet shop you got it from and replace it with another one that is less viscious.
If it is still very young it may not be tame enough yet, if you want keep it a try to tame it then you can always wear gloves when holding it the more you do this the more it will get used to it and eventually realise that you pose no threat.

Please just let the hamster be. He has probably had a bad experience with someone. Just give him lots of time without picking him up and speak to him often in a soft voice. Do this for a couple of weeks a least while giving him special treats. Then. go back to the beginning of just petting him while you give him his treat and later start picking him up with a treat in your hand to redirect his interest in not biting. If that doesn't work, you are probably stuck with a cutesy hamster that will not be re trainable. Just the fact that you are asking this question shows that you want the best for this little one. Threat softly.

my son has 3 at the moment we had a lot more & they are so cute , I think the first thing to do is not disturb your pet whilst eating ,also give your little pet some small branches from the apple tree, they need to keep there teeth nice and trim, if your hamster is biteting you whilst been picked up perhaps you should try picking from the neck ,the loose skin like this you won´t hurt it & you won´t get bitten just until he/she becomes used to being held. just have to be carefull when giving there food and not stick your finger´s too far in . They just think your finger´s are food , I know happened to me many times,

The hamster needs some chew sticks, put some in it cage, that help to keep there teeth in shape. And it may also be bore, if you can let it out of it cage to run around, check your local pet store they have toys for hamster. And if it bites you too, wash your hands first then gently put your hand in and let the hamster small it, it shouldn't bit you, but if it does you may need to work with the hamster and let it get use to your sense

Hamsters are short sighted and often mistake your fingers for something to eat. They often bite out of fear too. Be gentle with it and scoop it up in your hands rather than pick it up. Hamster bites hurt a bit, dont they!

Hamsters and guineas don't bite out of aggression. They tend the check out if fingers are food.
Try to think of your pet as stupid rather than evil and you can love it for what it is rather than what you wished it to be

I don't think you are going to get it to stop biting. Hamsters are very independent animals and they like to be left alone.

my hamster used to fly at my hand when i put it in her cage, but as soon as i got her out (using her ball) she never ever bit. so i guess for her it was a territorial thing...
my male hamster never bit at all, even in his cage. is your hamster female ?
