I'm just wondering why it is considered humane when you have a vet kill your animal, but if you kill your animal it's not humane? What is wrong with our society? They are animals, nothing more! We eat cows, dear, lamb, pig, etc... but if we eat a dog or a cat that's grounds to be criminally prosecuted. Butcher's kill animals and no one questions them. Why is it differen't when an average joe kills an animal, it's no longer considered humane? Anyone know the answer to this question?

I own a farm and have bought over 300 cows, however with the last of my farm money i invested in a bull to continue the herd, but it refuses to screw any of the cows. It seems to be a normal enough bull apart from that. Oh and when i brandish a red flag it gets angry, but when offered a pink one it makes a funny giggling sound...HELP!!!

I found a dead hedgehog in my back garden recently. It was fairly fresh, so I decided that rather than see good food go to waste... I skinned it and fried it and ate it with a peppery mushroom sauce. Is that immoral?

my brother bought me a rat as a birthday pressent. but he deliberatly got a male (i know his ways) so that the rat i already have would breed with this male.and therefore the babies get fed to our snake *sigh*- boys. cause my other rat is female.and what he doesnt know is that i went back to the pet shop and told them his little ' plan' and they let me swap the rat for a female. i feel guilty about it and do you think that this is technically still his pressent?? he keeps on asking me when "are your rats going to breed" and "is it getting fatter?" ohh im 15 and he's 17 and he's never ever bought me a birthday present out of his own money before =] so i felt really happy that he got me it =]

Do pet rats like to be challenged? Like lets say, a hammock that they need to climb the bars of their cage to get to. or like, a strong smelling treat inside a cardboard box that would need to be torn open?

i don't have any rats, YET, but i was just curious? also, what other things would a rat enjoy doing? and one last thing - do rats like to climb on the horizantal bars of their cage?

I've noticed quite a few "Danger - Deer Crossing" signs posted on my travels and I don't understand how the Department of Transportation knows when they will cross. I'm yet to see one cross, so obviously DOT can't guarantee you will see a deer.

Furthermore, I think our tax dollars would be better spent on improving the roads themselves. No wasted on paying for the cost of a deer, feeding it, caring for it during illness just so people have a chance to see a deer. Trust me - if people want to see them that bad, they will go to a zoo.

We don't put humans to sleep, he could have had pain medication, that horse may have wanted to live regardless of pain. I think it was terrible that he was euthanized, after all it was his life, not the owners, they're rotten people

My neice got a pet guinea pig (female) for a pet a couple of days ago. It is only about 5 or 6 weeks old, just weaned. She is shy and a little scared, which is to be expected. But we've heard a lot about guinea pigs needing constant interaction, either form its owner, or from the company of another guinea pig. Should we get the guinea pig a room mate? If we should, we want to get one SOON so they will get used to eachother quickly, rather than wait and have them fight. Anyone have a single guinea pig? Anyone have more than one? What's your advice? And when will this guinea pig relax and be friendly?

How many of you are sick of looking at questions about Babaro being put down just to see the same person putting up the same answer about if it was his horse, he'd have put the animal down on the track when it happened?

If you're not a horse breeder why would you insist you know exactly what you would have done?

I got this in response to an ad about finding a new home for my horse.
Hello seller,
i saw your advert while surfing via the internet and am willing
and interested to buy it.get back to me via my email if it is
still available for sale.
Are you the owner???
State its condition.
will like to know if you accept cashier check or money order as a method of payment.
What is your last offer????
I look forward to read from you soonest.
Best regards

Do they even realize that "it" is a horse??!! I insulted them thoroughly and trashed the message. That and I'm interested in finding my horse a home, not sell him!!! They'd have to come ride him at least once before I even considered selling him to them!!

Of course, this email is a scam, so sellers beware!

Did you all read or hear that Barbaro was finally euthanized today. It was sad but I think it was the best thing for him. What do you all think?

My 8 year old Thoroughbred gelding is VERY smart, and can tell if our electric fence is off... if something happened and the fence did turn off, he will squeeze in between the two strands and get out. He has done that twice now, but does not really run away, he sticks around the barn area till' we put him back. If he ever did REALLY run away, It would be very hard to find him I would think. So is there any way to put a contact number on him? But not on a halter because they (over time) rub him raw. Maybe something I clip on his mane that gives a number...What do you think???

I keep my guinea pigs in a warm shed that has secure windows that let light in when it is daytime. They have a really big cage, about five sleeping areas to choose from, really thick bedding and there are three of them. But should I keep them inside in winter? I ask because a friend of a friend said I should.

My guinea pigs sometimes fight but have never bitten each other. They are three brothers and very sweet but they just don't seem to get along! There is one in particular who seems to get bullied by the other two and they are always fighting about food. Should I try bonding exercises or should I put them in seperate cages??!

I have a 13 hour trip to Montana to make with 2 horses (we are moving). How long do you think I can drive before having to give them a break? Plus, where do you usually stop to do so? I have searched for websites on horse friendly rest stops and can't find any. Thank you!

He is a miniature horse and is 11 months old. He gets very excited at feeding time, which is when the biting occurs. He runs around the barn, whinnying and kicking up his little heels, then runs up to the person feeding him and bites them. It is very painful, and totally unacceptable behavior. Biting has occured only at feeding time. There are small children in the family who sometimes tend the animals in the barn. This is the first experience this family has with a horse of any size. Please advise us how to stop this behavior. Thank-you.

I have a mini-rex rabbit..her name is Daphne and she is 2 and a half years old. She is shedding like crazy right now and I'm not sure why? I cant rmeember if she was shedding like this last year or not. She is perfectly happy and healthy and there has been no change in her or to her diet or anything. Does anyone else have a rabbit that sheds like crazy? (she also has no bald spots either so she isnt just loosing fur)
