why did they put Barbaro down all i know is that that is the GAYEST move ever! i hope someone puts them down! R.I.P. BARBARO!!!!!!

if you have ever seen an animal suffer the way that horse was suffering and know that there is no way to make it better you would know why.

Most people put down animals when the animal's guiltily of life would be poor if the animal was let live. Also when the animal is so aggressive that there is no home for them.
They put him down because it would be inhumane to let him live in the pain he was in. He would have died soon any ways, but only after he suffered. Barbaro had a good life and to let him suffer any more would be cruel. I was hoping that he would live but then he started to have that bad of problems in his hooves. I could see why they did it. I would have euthanaed my horse if he where to get that bad.
I'm not saying a euthanasia is right in all cases but it has its place in the ownership of animals.

to answer your question animals are put down for several reasons.
Things like
If they are in severe pain that can not be helped or repaired.
If the horse has developed hurting people and is a threat
Very sick etc
