My eleven year old daughter wants a box turtle. I went to the pet shop and the lady recommended a salcada tortoise. they are very tiny about 3 or 4 inches. I know it will grow very large but she said it takes years to get that big. she said is low maintenance. I'm looking for lowest maintenance. anyone have one of these kind of pets?

I'm a 12 year old girl who wants to get a horse. Yes, I understand the responsibilities that go along with having a horse. I sometimes help my friends with their horses. I've taken some lessons, but I'm still a pretty green rider. I'd prefer to ride English, but getting a horse is my "mane" priority (pardon my horsey pun!). Do you have a suggestion of what breeds to consider as I'm looking for a horse? All I know is that it should be well trained, good with kids, and maybe a bit older?
Thanks.

We got my son a dwarf rabbit for his birthday. The bunny has very yellow, orange, red colored urine. Is this because of a rabbits diet? The bunny is very healthy and friendly. He doesnt seem to have any pain or problems.

I really want to get a pet. In a dream world it would be a dog or cat - but as I am in my final year of uni and move house from year to year this isnt fair on the animal.

Are there any animals people can recommend that won't be overly distressed by moving and that don't take LOADS of looking after? (Fish for example would be good, but I think cleaning their tank out would be alot of work etc)

Any ideas?
Thanks!

My boyfriend and I have been together over 2 years, and he does not care much for horses. He pets the baby once in a while, but that's it. He thinks they are expensive and require too much care. Well, he thinks that way about all animals. He likes them, and will rarely come outside with me when I feed and even more rarely lend a hand, but he has no interest what so ever in them. I've had horses for 22 years now, and I have no desire to get rid of the 6 I have left. I've told him I'll take care of them, and he won't have to help. We're talking about getting married, and I finally managed to talk him into buying a couple acres for us. Anyone ever run into a issue like this? How did you resolve it? I'm worried that this will be a huge problem later, (it has already caused a couple minor arguments) and I'd like to resolve it now before we get married. Thanks!

I'm gathering info, doing my research. :)

To be more specific, I'm really saying is if a ferret vaccine + treatment is usually more exprensive then a cat or dog treatment?

I can't close the door to the room the box is in or the cat won't be able to access it. I can't raise it up out of reach, so what do I do?

If it weren't so disgusting it would be funny. :)

What is a good rule of thumb for getting or makeing a cage for a rabbit? So many feet per Lbs or total length in inches or what???
I plan to build a cage, and am trying to figure out what a good size would be for my rabbit so it is not cramped etc...
All info and any web sites for info, easy designs etc. would be great!

Thanks In Advance!

I have 2 great danes both male ages 1 and 3. I have been harrassed by a particular neighbor who thinks my husband called the dog pound and had his pit picked up. My dogs got loose one day and the man called the police and said my dogs (both of them) tried to attack a little girl who was visiting his house. He said the little girl was running to the house and slipped and fell then her parents dragged her into the house just in the nick of time. The police offficer showed up with animal control and said they were here to pick up my dogs and have them put down! Now I know my dogs and besides that does anyone know a little girl that can outrun two great danes and have time to fall then get dragged into a house without the girl getting attacked? The guys pit is loose alot and he has a little dog that bites people all the time. They don't do anything about the little dog. He got his pit back. THey didn't take my dogs away. I've thought about caling his landlord. I own my house. Any ideas?
