Prospect means the horse could be used for a certain event. Example: Hunter/jumper prospect. the horse isnt a jumper but it would probably make a good one.

When someone refers to a horse as a jumper prospect or a dressage prospect it means that he/she believes that the horse appears to be well suited for that particular discipline. It does not mean that the horse has any training or experience, but it could have some.

It means you could be interested in that horse. Say you went and looked at 5 horses that were for sale and you were interested in only one of them. Then someone ask you.................
Out of the 5 horses you looked at do you have any prospects? And you reply with: Yes I have one prospect that I really like.........

well it means that he/she can do it like for example if you wanted a hunter/jumper prospect you want a horse that can do it or that will do it!
