I have 2 great danes both male ages 1 and 3. I have been harrassed by a particular neighbor who thinks my husband called the dog pound and had his pit picked up. My dogs got loose one day and the man called the police and said my dogs (both of them) tried to attack a little girl who was visiting his house. He said the little girl was running to the house and slipped and fell then her parents dragged her into the house just in the nick of time. The police offficer showed up with animal control and said they were here to pick up my dogs and have them put down! Now I know my dogs and besides that does anyone know a little girl that can outrun two great danes and have time to fall then get dragged into a house without the girl getting attacked? The guys pit is loose alot and he has a little dog that bites people all the time. They don't do anything about the little dog. He got his pit back. THey didn't take my dogs away. I've thought about caling his landlord. I own my house. Any ideas?

okay first off you live next door to an idiot okay well your first step is to video when his dog is loose and call the pound right away and also give them the video so that they have proof to take the dog away . Also contact the landlord and advise him that his house insurance could go up should that dog attack anyone ? Also let him know that his tennant is not a good neighbor and tell him what he did . Most landlords will not tolerate very many complaints against a tennant and will make them move when they become a problem. i wish you luck and remember to keep your dogs up in the house and also dont leave your dogs unattended something bad might be done to them by this idiot . He is obviously an idiot he owns a pit in a neighborhood with kids . I hate people that own vicious dogs and do not muzzle them if you own a vicious dog take some responsibility and muzzle it when you know it is around other people . good luck to you and i wish you well.

First thing....make sure your danes NEVER get loose. Don't even give this jerk an opportunity to hurt them. Secondly, do not leave your dogs outside alone...you never know what some crazy nutjob will do. He could throw something into your yard that is appealing to your danes (like hamburger with anti-freeze in it) and the outcome to that is just awful. I've read about cases like this, and seen them on tv (real news shows). I would contact the home owner...most insurance companies will not insure a house with particular breeds of dogs living in them. Not to say that I agree with that practice, but it sounds like this guy is just waiting for an opportunity to hurt you through your danes. Of course, I'd hate to see anything happen to his dog either, as long as it's not a mean dog. Good luck...it's tough when you have irresponsible people living near you.

The authorities don't just take dogs and put them down without proof that they have rabies or are indeed vicious. I'd recommend making sure you're dogs don't get out, it's takes a vigilant eye or two or four but it can be done.

Secondly, watch your neighbor's dogs and document when they're out..video/camera is good. Also, contacting the owner of the house is a good idea. The owner may not know the renter has dogs nor know what kind they are, or the damage they can do.

Video tape his dog when it gets out, document the actions of this person & if he has filed a false report to the police make sure they are aware of his actions and intension so that there is a record. This person could cause considerable trouble for you & your pets with this kind of behavior.
Yes, definately contact his landlord & explain the situation and hopefully his landlord isn't good friends with the guy, that could cause more problems for you. But document everything and keep an eye on your back.
You may check into a restraining order of some kind, I'm not sure if that is an option, but worth checking out.
It's too bad that there are people out the who just want to make other peoples lives miserable.

Good Luck!!!!

call the lanlord and let him know the pits are constantly loose and if ant is hurt this could effect his home owners insurance. although he got his pit back after the pound picks them up a couple of more times they will take them away. hopefully before the dog hurts someone. Danes arent agressive and very entelegent dogs. pits can and will turn its in their bloodlines to hunt and fight.keep your camera near the front door, preferable one that records the date and anytime you observe this dog out snap a picture as evidence. our pound takes way too long to respond and alot of times the dogs are back in their yard

The main issue here is if it is true or not that your dogs attacked a little girl. It is your legal responsibility to find out if this happened. Seek out the little girl and talk to her. If it did happen, you have to put your dogs down.

Because if you don't....and later on, the dogs attack someone else, you are going to go to prison. Prison is an extremely unpleasant place. You definitely will not survive there.

Stop being an idiot and take care of the problem....or else.

You need to confront the guy..tell him he's a damn liar then hit him in the nad's with a bat. Then sic your dane's on him.... If he still has an attitude nail his sac to the tarmac on a busy blvd let him get run over by the pound truck.....

Yes

Take your dogs and get their CGC certificates. A dog with a canine good citizen certificate is defensible in court.
