I am a single 35 year old male living in a small apartment in Dallas. I understand greyhounds are very lazy and run around for about 20 minutes then sleep all the time. I want a lazy dog. Maybe an italian greyhound? They say pets have a calming effect on owners. Seems valid to me.

And it would not be hard to have an exit strategy with a fine dog like that, am I wrong?

my dog is now 4 years old. she was neutered as soon as the vet said ok, was about 4 or 5 months old, he said better before she can have puppies. I found her on a street, the owner of the kiosk was waving a stick at her. I took her home, then lived with parents, and she's been living with me and my sister in the same room. Now she lives with me and my sister in a 2 room flat, been ok till now but has started to be very scared lately when i take her out to shopping, tied her outside she was always ok but not lately, tail between legs and shivering :S

My husband and I are putting our house on the market for selling and moving to another house, 3 weeks ago I had to have my 12 year old German Shepherd Dog put to sleep, I had her 10 years and I am still grieving over her, dearly missed, but I long to have another rescue GSD, should I wait until we move, or get one now? I appreciate any help and advice you can give me.

I fell inlove with this dog that was pretty much being tortured by it's owners and I came to find out later on that she was preagnant. This is something that I was not expecting and now I am stuck with a dog that just gave birth to a dead dog and another dog that is ok, but she smells really funny and it almost feels as if she has another dog inside. Is there anyway to find that out? I know the answer would be to go to a vet, but this was a surprise to me and now I have to register her to be able to take her, but in the mean time, can someone help me out on this one please.

My dog always is at our side when we sit or when we go to bed, she is snuggled deep under the covers, but when we try to pet her she either jumps and grabs a toy or she snarls like she doesn't want to be petted. Why? Most of the time though she is sweet and affectionate if that is HER mood.

Allie, our four-year-old beagle, suffers from very strong seasonal allergies. She is taking a medication that helps dull the itchiness and other symptoms, but the side-effects are cruel. She has not only an increased appetite, but a slowed metabolism as well. On top of this, she is always sleeping! While we have another dog (a perfectly healthy lab), Allie does not get nearly enough exercise during her day. She has always enjoyed lazing around, but it has really caused a big problem now -- she has difficulty getting onto her feet, waddles when she moves, and can't really climb anything without great effort.

Are we too late? We realize that we could have done a lot more, but now we fear that there are very little options for us, and time is running out. While we have restricted her diet (with care), we do not believe that this will be enough.

How can we help motivate our Allie to exercise more?

I DID and will always adopt from a Animal shelter. I never said my ***** was a pure breed. She's a mixed breed dog who was left on a bench at 6 months old and pregnant in the rain. I took her in to my home I helped with the pups, and when she turned 21 months I breed her with my mixed breed male ( whom I adopted at 4 months). That pregnancy and her first one (which I couldn't control because I didn't even own her), where the only pregnancies I wanted. The last two were mistakes. The products of my neighbor's eagar old male stud. Like I said I had two different fences installed at two diferent times to prevent this. I could stay home and live of of my husband's earnings but I choose to work. For that reason I can't always be there to watch the dogs. When my husband or myself is home everything is under control. Its during the day when everyone's at work, that the NEIGHBOR'S dog invades my yard and my dog. She came with 1 litter, I planned 1 litter, & the neighbor's dog did the rest. OK

I have a 12 year old mongrel dog (jack russel-ish), around 6 months ago she started coughing so we took her to the vets but after months of messing around with that vet i decided to take her to another vets. I took her this morning to the new vets for an ultrascan/2 x-rays and on collection the vet never even bothered with the coughing issue and told me to have the dog put to sleep because it has a tumour on it's liver, however i went against his advice and brought her home because 'there's nothing wrong with her' she is in no pain (yet) and rolls around at home like nobodys bussiness and i know she is happy, the vet made it sound like she has zero chance of survival and offered no treatment 'except death'.

I believe it's possible to have the lump/tumour removed theoretically and since that is the problem, the problem would be solved no?

I not quite sure but i have an idea that the vet thought it would not be worth saving her because she's 'old-ish' a 'mongrel' and the operation could be 'risky/costly'. I don't care about cost though, please let me know what you think...

My male dog's name is Rock I adopted him from the aspca in NYC.I didn't have him neuterd, and he Did go through a bad period. Eventually nature took it's course(around 4 years old), and now he's calm, gentle & mild tempered. He came first so he has his own room within the house. During the second week of her cycle I lock him in his room, and she has free roam( his room is big and has everything he'll need and more)of the house. I have know problem finding people who want her pups. In fact, I already have people waiting on her next litter, which I thought wouldn't be until the end of next year. Like I said before, I'am gonna abort this pregnancy because I was taken back with the forth, let alone a fifth. I assure you my dogs are fine. They get the best care of any dogs I know. I'AM a responsible owner. I pay for the first year shots, for all of the "unwanted" dogs. I even do a house checks. So cut me some slack, I'm a new breeder and I'll try to take care of my "mistakes".
