my dog is now 4 years old. she was neutered as soon as the vet said ok, was about 4 or 5 months old, he said better before she can have puppies. I found her on a street, the owner of the kiosk was waving a stick at her. I took her home, then lived with parents, and she's been living with me and my sister in the same room. Now she lives with me and my sister in a 2 room flat, been ok till now but has started to be very scared lately when i take her out to shopping, tied her outside she was always ok but not lately, tail between legs and shivering :S

do you think someone is bothering her when she is tied up outside? how long have you been in the new house? maybe it is the new surroundings?
give her lots and lots of hugs and love.
make sure no one is scaring her when she is outside.

You don't say how long it's been since you've moved her from the surroundings she was familiar with, so I'm going to be pretty general. Since it sounds like at one time she may have been an abused dog(the kiosk lady), it may just take time to let her get used to her new surroundings and people. Also, tying her while you're inside leaves her at the mercy of a public she doesn't know, so of course she's going to be scared. If you're going to continue this, when you go somewhere that you'd usually tie her while you're inside, for awhile stay with her while she's tied and give her lots of praise, and then go home or for a special treat. If she starts to relax while she's tied, go into the store for a very short time to start with, then back to your dog, lots of praise and assurance you're always coming back, and again, leave for home or a treat. With time, she may become comfortable enough that you can go back to tying her while you're in the store, but be very careful about this leaving her tied out at all since there are LOTS of people out there that will steal her and sell her into research where you'll never see her again and she could be horribly treated or tested on. The safest thing to do for both of you is to leave her at home while you're out shopping and crate train her if you're worried she'll have problems while you're gone from the house. Good luck and be careful!!

I'd say you have a very frightened girl there! She has either been attacked by another dog or a so called Human Being and being tied up was unable to escape! Why take her shopping and leave her vunerable like that! She should be taken out to play and get exercise! A vet can't cure her, training her is possible but difficult and if she's alone out-side you wont know if she is SCARED or not.
Please be aware that FEAR can quickly become AGGRESSION and if you keep doing it she could start attacking anyone who walks past her. One bite and you could lose her!

has someone or something scared her when she was outside the shops?? maybe a loud car noise? some kids etc etc... is there anyway u can leave her at home when u shop and build her confidence up by just taking her out when you are with her the whole time???? does sound like somethings scared her while you were in the shop... see if she is ok when u walk her say to the shop and back without tieing her up outside... if not get the vet to check her over in case she is sore somewhere....

She needs to have her confidence built. Training is an excellent tool to increase the bond between human and dog, and build her confidence up. Try a dog training club that uses gentle methods that don't threaten the dogs. If you aren't comfortable with the methods, don't go there. Training gives you a second option to consult a trainer who knows a lot about dogs and can give you advice individual to your dog. A six week basic obedience session is usually fairly inexpensive. If this isn't an option, check out a good training book, "How to be Your Dog's Best Friend" by The Monks of New Skete is my personal favorite. Also, talk to your vet about individual behavior issues, and see what he has to say.

someone may have been nasty to her when you have not been there and all her confidence has gone. Maybe she is going through a stage and hopefully soon she will be ok. Make sure though no-one has hurt her. I feel for you theres nothing worse than seeing a scared dog, So upsetting. Good luck

This doesn't sound too difficult to me - don't tie the poor dog up and leave her defenceless!! If she was fine before, and suddenly started being very scared to be left tied up, obviously something happened to her. You're lucky she hasn't been stolen yet! Leave that dog at home where she'll be safe.

sounds to me like she's having a mental problem. 1st off u have taken her to a new home and a new neighborhood and a change is always stressful to any pet. is there any chance that where u have moved or are taking her is anywhere near where u found her, perhaps she is having a bad memory. the only thing she needs is lots of TLC and time to readjust to her new surroundings. good luck.

Someone may have been teasing her, causing her to be wary of people. What breed is she, do you have any clue?
She needs good training. A fearful dog is unpredictable, and more likely to bite, and it sounds like she could be a shy/fearful dog, but I would need more info.
My Liberty was terrified of everything when I first got her, so I have experience with this...
