If you have ever had a small dog you know that even in a fenced in yard it can be a pain to get them back when they take off and start running around. He needs some obedience training to learn to come when called, thats all. Sometimes dogs run because they think they are dominant. They are leading the "pack". Does he stop and wait for you to get close and look at you? Try taking back control by making a point of turning your back on him and walking the opposite direction.
He might also just be trying to play with you. Try bringing toys out that make noise to get his attention.

The simplest thing as long as you are going out with him anyway is to put him on a leash. A small dog should always be on a leash when out. If there is a problem you can real him in and pick him up out of harms way. Also he can only go as far as the length of the leash. I would take him to doggy school and learn how to train him. So use the leash for now...Good luck...

I am assuming that you do not have a fence. If you have a back yard, then you can take the fencing option, maybe an underground electrical one that will only affect your dog. You could also tie a length of leash or rope to a tree, and hook him up to that. Another option you oculd take is an electrical collar. You can buy one with settings of the amount of shock and set it to the one perfect for you dog. We had to train our dog with one of those, and him being a rather large dog had it about middle in the levels so it wasn't too much, but enough to disciplin him. Ours had another button on the remote, and if you pushed it it would let out a beeping sound, not enough to hurt his ears, but as a warning. For a while after we retired his collar we just had to immitate the beeping song and he would be good. Luckily he grew out of that phase, which your dog might also. Another option is a whistle. One of those extremely high pitched ones could stop him in his track, along with a firm 'no!'. This could give you the time to catch up and snatch him up. Hope this helps!

Simply stated, you really can't. There are ways to help a dog have a better recall, but I have never met a dog whose recall was 100%. Most dogs that do stick around, stick around because they want to, and it is apparent that your dog doesn't want to do that. I would walk him on a leash, it is far safer. I know that isn't very helpful, but my seven year old terrier with three obedience titles will still run like crazy if he gets out, and its not for lack of trying to get him to come back. If you want to improve you recall in case of emergency, I would practice in a fenced area or the house, enthusiastically calling him and giving him a ton of praise when he comes along with treats. Never correct him after he comes to you, you don't want him to think that you would ever give him a correct after he willingly came. Also, usually chasing a dog will make them run away, its a game to them. Your best bet is to run in the opposite direction, then he will chase you.

Leash him. No dog should be allowed outside in an unfenced area without a leash. No responsible owner would allow that.
Edit: And invisible fences are abuse. They are illegal in many countries and some cities here in the US and are not humane. They also leave your dog open to being stolen, abused, and attacked by other dogs.

These dogs really need to be put on a leash. If you have any books on Min Pin's it will tell you that they are notorious for running off. That is how I got my Min Pin. He ran off from his previous owners and the pound got him, then I adopted him. Shortly after I adopted him he kept trying to run off from me too. They are very fast runners and if you wanna keep him around-put him on a leash.

Get a dog harmess, and put him on a leash. He shouldn't be able to wiggle out of a harness as easy as a regular dog collar.

First of all,if you don't mind a fence, take nice fence (doesn't have to be high) and place it around the place you want your dog to go in.even though my dog can easily jump over the fence we have put up for him,he knows that is his boundary so he doesn't jump over. However you can also buy a special spray and spray it on the places you DON'T want him to go on.This spray can be found in the pet section of a store and it DOES NOT harm your dog.The spray simply gives off a smell that dogs do not like but that to us it doesn't smell so much.

get a leash, minpins will always find something interesting in another yard, other dogs or other people, etc mine would try to attack a tiger if she could, so for her safety and my piece of mind she goes out on leash
and what noone else has mentioned, minpins are notoriously hardheaded!
