I know she's young (just a little past 8 weeks, Scottish Terrier) but, she was walking dilegently behind me when I walked her with her leash for the first four days. Now whenever I walk her, she stubbornly puts out her front legs in protest, or just lies down completely.

I tried gently tugging the leash then giving the leash some slack, and saying "come" but she doesn't.. just pulls back. I even tried pulling until she gives, but she just pulls back.

I feel she's too young for a leash training device, however, she's so smart that I feel she's just manipulating me to carry her (which I don't want to get her used to being carried and want her to follow me on the leash.. HELP!!

i am moving in to a new apartment with a roommate I live by myself now and I let him do almost whatever he wants he good but sometimes when he gets bored and I am gone he does bad stuff like tearing of the carpet. I really want to get a puppy. I want it to preferably have short hair, be medium to big in size and be quite athletic (i want to take it for walks, like everyday). It must also not attack my cats! What breed do you think would be most suitable for me?

I have 2 dogs. A Yorkshire Terrier and a Chihuahua. They're both 1 year and 4 months old. I would really love to teach my dogs tricks. From what I'm seeing my Yorkie is a bit more intelligent. Is it to late to teach my dogs tricks? If not can someone tell me a method for teaching dogs? I've tried all I can think of to teach them but they won't even learn SIT. Please help me~

“I don’t use the word “pet.” I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer “companion animal.” For one thing, we would NO LONGER ALLOW BREEDING.. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance — Ingrid Newkirk, PETA’s President, quoted in The Harper’s Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223. “
I coudl not belive this when I read it. This woman is nuts and so is PETA.

I did not know b4 I married him he would be like this. I miss my dog being inside and cuddled with me. How can I convince my husband to let her be with me

My dog was born with a clef palate and is a runt. She has been impossible to train. It appears that she is unable to retain her bodily fluids. I prefer not to put her outside in the beating heat. I also have two other dogs I have trained well and are inside dogs. The runt seems to be somewhat mentally challenged. Not only do I have difficulty house breaking her, she also makes a huge mess at meal time. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Her hair loss is along her spine and on her arms and legs where she scratches them. Also, she is losing hair on her ears. The vet tested her for mange and it came back negative, but he still had her dipped just in case. Her patches have gotten a little worse over the week and seem more noticible when I give her a bath. Anyone have any suggestions??
