well considering i will only chastise my dog when hes done something wrong, ive always had his trust. he trusts that he will be disciplined for his wrongdoing and still loves me afterward. so did ya hit the dog for no good reason?

For starters, don't hit the animal again; ever! A loud voice and irritated tone is generally more effective in correcting inappropriate behavior than physical punishment. I am assuming you hit the animal because it did something wrong, and not just because you are an animal abuser. Also, if you injured the animal, please take it to veteranarian so it can receive the treatment it needs. Now, assuming you just smacked the dog, and didn't really harm it, the best way to get it to trust you again is TLC. Give it a lot of love and let it know you forgive it for its behavior, and it will most likely, readily forgive you for your lack of restraint.

Love him and give him time to trust you again .. you should be very ashamed of yourself for hitting an animal .. I hope that you have learned your lesson ... Remember this poem and please do not take your anger out on your dog anymore

Ten Favors a Dog Asks From a Man or Woman

1- My life lasts between ten to fifteen years. Every separation from
you means suffering for me. Think about this before you decide whether
or not to take me!
2- Give me time to understand what you are asking from me.
3- Instill confidence in me - I thrive on it!
4- Do not be angry with me for a long time and do not lock me up for
punishment! You have your work, your pleasure, your joy - I have only
you.
5- Talk often to me! Even if I do not understand you completely, I do
understand the tone of your voice when you talk to me.
6- Know that, no matter how I am being treated, I shall
never forget
it!
7- Keep in mind, before you hit me , that my jaws could crush the
knuckles of your hand with ease, but that I do not make use of them.
8- Before you scold me when working with me, consider: perhaps I am
uncomfortable from digesting my last meal;
perhaps I was exposed to the sun too long; or perhaps I have a wornout
heart.
9- Take care of me when I am old -- you too are going to be old one
day.
10- Be with me when my going gets rough. Everything is easier for me
when you are beside me.

Kneel before the dog, kiss him and ask for forgiveness and wait until he licks you so that you are sure he has forgiven you and that you have got back the trust and make sure you never again do that and also give him some extra care and love in future...

IT WAS HEARTLESS OF U TO HIT YOUR DOG...dogs are the most loyal creatures on earth and they will always be there for you they are not like people who run away from their friends when their friends are in trouble..they will always stand by your side..so i suggest u think twice before u do something like that again..
as for your dog, u should try to be as nice to it as possible, even try apologising, they might not able to talk but they will surely understand u....

regards...

You may try to pamper your dog back by massage and sing for it simultaneously until it falls as sleep. If they fall as sleep, normally they will feel guilty and they will understand that you hit them because they made mistake. If it is not sleeping, then you can try to play with it gently. Once they enjoyed to play with you, means you are success to get its trust back.

animals are very forgiving. why did you hit him? did he deserve it?
if he deserved it it won't be as hard to correct.
i would just sit by his bowl while you feed him, give him treats for doing things you want him to do, take him on walks to new places to build some trust, take him places that make him nervous so he'll be tempted to turn to you..... anything you can think of.
