Dogs love to hang their heads out the car window. They enjoy feeling the wind smashing against their faces and ears stretching them back to the max. The must feel the freest dogs in the hood. But not only do they feel the wind's freshness but they actually experience a myriad of sensations through their
olfactory receptors. As you know, this is the most important sense dogs have, because it is through this sense that they perceive the world surrounding them.
All this doesn't mean one has to open the window completely, with just enough to let a breeze of air come in it'll do. If one didn't do this, it would be like making them go blind, and depriving them from exciting and unknown sensations to be discovered.

Dogs smell each others breath when they greet each other. Your dog can tell what you have eaten, where you have been, if you have been drinking and perhaps who you have been kissing. Blowing in your dogs face is also a gesture of dominance, some dogs enjoy it (running around barking) and some react by exerting their dominace back (i.e. biting back).
An outing in the car is the doggy equivalent to a hunting trip. If the dog has its head out of the window it can smell and hear anything nearby. It is also watching out for any danger that the pack (you) might have to react to.

when they stick their head out of a moving car window, they probably dont like the feeling, they're just curious and want to look outside at all the moving cars etc. they can get a closer look with the window open, because they can stick their head out further.

Hello :
I am not sure .......
>> when ever i blow in my dogs face they automaticly start licking me ... always been that way . i suppose i have doggy breath .
what ever it is ..my dogs always lick my face and want to play.
* Imagine your scents of smell x 1000 (example) in a dogs world surrounded by oders most that humans can not detect. ~FACT~
sticking their head out of the window of a moving car is like a
smorgasbord a wide varitey of smells and oders that the dog enjoys trying to identify. A dogs scents of smell is far superior to any humans. In the wild canines (dogs) rely on their keen abilitys
to follow smells to seek food and to be aware of possible dangers

Because when you blow in their face that is something that your doing to them and when they stick their head out the window that is something they are doing. For one air irritates their eyes and when they stick their head out the window they can squint their eyes to reduce the irritation. When you blow in their face they dont have time to squint their eyes and it instantly irritates their eyes. And some dogs when irritated snaps. I had a guy get bit in the face by my German shepherd because he kept blowing in her face while I had my back turned. Needless to say he took a trip to the hospital that night and never came to my house again LMFAO.

The first smell a dog ever develops is their sense of smell - it's their main way of understanding the world. They rely on it more than their eyesight or their hearing. Their noses are about 100 times more powerful than ours are.
So a dog sticks his head out the window of a car to smell whatever there is to smell, so he can get a grasp on his surroundings.

because the vehicle is hot and they release heat and sweat from their tongues thats why they pant when they are hot and the reason why they put their heads out the window is to cool off and of course they don't like it when u blow in their face noone likes it when a dog breathes in our faces so why would they like it when its being done to them?

Same reason we don't like having someone blow in our faces but we still like feeling the 'wind in our faces'
