I grew up with dogs and my husband didn't. I think dogs are clean and he thinks dogs are dirty. I used to sleep with my dog and now I cannot anymore because he thinks it is gross. I did not know b4 I married him he would be like this. I miss my dog being inside and cuddled with me. How can I convince my husband to let her be with me

Keep the dog, get rid of the husband. I'm not kidding either. One day you'll thank me.

I can't imagine what it would be like to have a husband who lays lay down the law and declares a dog free house! I don't understand people who think house dogs are unclean. You can probably blame his mother on that issue, but mother in laws are a topic for another category.

My initial reaction was that your husband's lack of understanding your needs, wants and dogs is probably just the tip of the iceberg. In my experience, people who lack empathy for animals, also are lacking 'heart' in other areas.

Explain to your husband that marriage is not a dictatorship. You have rights as well and you love your dog and want him inside. You get to have your say so too!

Work out an agreement where the dog comes in the house, but doesn't sleep on the bed. Allow the dog to sleep in a crate at night. Try to encourage a warm relationship between your dog and husband. Maybe he needs time to see that dogs are not filthy creatures. Keep the dog clean, well groomed and flea free. Hopefully, your husband will realize that the dog is his dog too.

I know marriage is for better and/or worse, but to me, this issue is pretty bad. You didn't say how long you've been married, but try to work out this issue. I have a feeling your husband will be putting his big foot down on other issues in the future. You may come to realize that he enjoys being the tyrannical king of the house.

I am trying to be logical in my answer to you, when actually, I was wanting to say...."get rid of the husband!". I've been married 32 years to the same man, but I've gotta tell you, this dog issue would probaly have been a deal breaker in my marriage and husband #2 would have been throughly checked out on the dog issue before I agreed to the contact.

Um lets see obviously your husband is trying to change you. Your dog is being mistreated because of him. OK this is what I would do but I have more than enough guts to do it some women dont but you might. Dont ask him shi.t, Tell him that your dog is going to sleep in the bed with you and that you are going to treat your dog the same way you have all your life and if he dont like it then leave his as.s. I left a man over my dog and would do it again in a heart beat. He should have told you about this major difference between the two of you BEFORE marriage. So its his fault if the marriage comes to an end. Get some guts stand your ground and let him know how its gonna be or your the fuc.k out of it. And if you cant get the guts then take a look into your dogs eyes. I promise your dog is confused and hurt. I had a boyfreind pick my german shepherd up by the head and slam her against the wall and when she attacked him I was right behind her. I pulled her off eventually and started packing his shi.t. He tried to push her out of the room so he could beat me up and she got him again. That time I just let her hold him till the cops got there. He didnt like her because he had bad intentions with me and knew it wouldnt happen while any one of my dogs was there. Get rid of him now. I never trust someone that dont like animals.

He is probably jealous of the poor dog...poor dog, i know he/she misses being with her mommy. about your husband.the dog is not his that's why he's acting like that...if it's a big dog i can understand your husband dog probably taking up the whole bed...if not take dog a bathy ....bath and explain to your husband that she/he is cleaned and you just took her a bath...then try to convince him to get a puppy so he can see the puppy grow and he will see...how nice is to have a dog, they are man's best friend...having a dog is having extra love in the house hold...tell your husband....you love your dog..and he should understand..Man that do not love animal is a hard person to live with..good luck.

Keep the dog, let it in, and tell the hubby it's non-negotiable. However, limit cuddling to cuddling on the couch, and on arm chairs, not in the bed- if the man sleeps in the same bed, he should have a say.
If your husband is the one who's the one paying all the bills, you do not have much of a choice-he's the one feeding the dog and paying for the vet, so you should be understanding that he tolerates the pup
However, if you're paying everything for the dog, you have every right to keep it- why should you be the one doing all the compromising?

I agree with everyone who says keep the dog lose the husband. I will state my reasons.
1. While you husband may not like you anymore when he sees a more attractive women, your dog will ALWAYS be by your side, when your happy, sad, or mad.
2. While your husband just sleeps next to you on a regular basis you dog is THANKFUL to be by your side, cuddled next to his/her owner.
3. While your husband doesn't have time for you, your dog always wants to play with you and be by his/her owner.
4. Besides don't you love your cute little doggie???
