A week ago I had to take my dog to the vet. She was having puppies and complications. She needed a c section. One week to the day I cam home to find her dead, her guts had all come out. I havnt paid this vet yet, but I want to know if this is possable if an animal is sewn up correctly. It is my understanding that the stomache muscle has to be closed up and then the skin, using separate stitches. This was not the case with my dog. Please dont answer or comment if you dont anything about how to properly stitch up an animal.

is it better to get an young/adult adopted dog OR a puppy and then you are more "hot off the pan" because the pup does not really have a background. other people say its better to adopt a adult/young dog from the animal shelter because 1- your adopting one and 2- you can see how the dogs acts because its older...explain your answer please!

Help! We have a 1 yr old Border Collie, when she was young she began to growl and bite at the Vacuum cleaner, then this summer she started doing the same to the Lawn mower! Yesterday, she chewed up the hoses to the pool pump! We have always corrected her when she did something like this, but she continues to attack machinery. I began putting her in her crate to keep her away while I vacuumed or we ran the mower. She sit's and there and barks her fool head off! As for the pool hoses she ruined them and we had to buy new. Hubby was none to pleased! Pump could have burned up! I can't keep her locked up all the time while the pool is running! She is a Border Collie after all and needs to run and play! Anyone know how to stop this kind of behavior?

Supposedly, we have giardia at our house. We have lived there 8 months and had 2 puupies get sick in Feb. and one died. Then we had 2 more puppies become sick in June and one of them died. They all showed signs of diarehha but would eat and drink and then vomit. The first puppy that survived I took all food and water away for about 4 or 5 days and then he begin to show improvement. The puppy that died in Feb. was sick 2 days and died. The puppies that became sick in June were never taken off food or water but the puppy that died had also chewed and swallowed an electric cord before he got sick. The puppy that survived was put on fluids and kept confined to a crate. I need to know if either of these could have been giardia.

OK,,, a week ago I found a little puppy. My family and I were out walking in the woods searching for Arrowheads (Indian artifacts). We came upon a mother dog and her puppies. We were able to find home for 5 and I have kept the runt. I have named the mother "Lady"
The puppy is a boy and he is black with a little white on his chest he also has a natural bob tail.
I was wanting some kind of Indian name,, it would really mean something b/c of what we were doing when we found him.
Any unique suggestions?

What type of dog? How old is the dog? What happened to make the child get bit? Was this the first time the dog has bitten? Most dogs don't like to be pulled on, laid on ect. You should try training the child not to do what he/she did to make the dog bite. Or if the dog bit out of meaness you need to put it down. Every dog should be allowed 1 provoked bite.

I don't understand why people ask questions, and then not read or review the responses they get. It's very annoying.

Ever since I was a kid, I could hear a dog whistle. I'm in my 30s, and can STILL hear it, even though it supposedly is far above the range of normal human hearing! I've only run into 2 to 4 people who have the same ability, so I thought I'd ask around here on Yahoo.

BTW, when I say "dog whistle", I'm talking about the battery-operated devices (about the size of a garage door remote control) designed help "train" dogs and/or to get dogs to run away and leave you alone. I've never been around the more simple whistles, that you blow with your own mouth, so I don't know if I can hear those or not.

But the battery-operated thingies are SO BAD that I can't even be in the same HOUSE when someone uses one, let alone the same room! :( It's awful! Like stringing metallic dental floss through your ears and then making it vibrate and whine!

Can anyone else hear this? And, do you happen to know how much "higher" than normal that makes my/our hearing ability? Thanks! And WOOF! :)
