He's between puppy and adult stages. He hasn't wanted to eat much for 3 weeks & is losing wieght... Eyes are clear... Not snappy but listless... They tried to cajole him to eat with pizza but he could only manage the toppings... No vomiting that I know of... They don't have much $ and want an idea of what could be wrong before choosing a vet...

I would like to know from other breeders out there that feed a raw diet, do you wean your puppies onto a raw diet? If so how to you put together the needed nutrients in the right combination? Would any of you be willing to share a sample menu and when you start. Has anyone also switched their dog over from commercial kibble to raw? If so any advice on that would be great. I am really wanting to see about doing a raw diet for my Boxers as well as to try weaing to a raw diet. Thank You all so much in advance.

I have a good friend of mine whose dog gave birth to puppies a few months ago. The puppies are a mixed breed and are probably a Pomeranian/Chihuahua. I'm thinking about bringing one of them into my family, most likely it'll be a male. We have two adults, a teenager, and 7 year old boy in the family. The dog may have to stay by itself for some hours during the day when summer is over and the kids go back to school.

I'm worried that the dog may be possessive of his toys and food. Is there any advice to deal with that or prevent it? We've never had a family dog so are there any good advice or tips for new dog owners?

By the way, thanks for any help. [:

My dog doesn't eat like he should. We've tried changing his food. We've done everything that we could think of. He will eat good for a couple days and then he will go a couple days without eating.

He tries to hump my neighbor every time she is around.. He doesn't try it with my wife or any other person. Just my neighbor. As soon as she stands still for a moment he is at her and I have tried everything I know to get him to leave her alone, but to no avail. She's always gotten along with Shep and she has played with him since he was 8 months old. So it's not like she is a stranger. He is out of control. Any suggestions?

I read some companies are allowing employees to bring their dogs to work because it relieves stress and keeps people happy. I would love it!!

Seeing as how animals that are bread to look a certain way often do it at the expense of their health is it fair to bring unhealthy dogs into the world instead of healthy ones, just becasue you like the way they look?

I know it's just his instinct, but in the last three weeks he has killed 5 baby rabbits, 2 young birds and a mole. He would have killed a lot more if I hadn't intervened. All of this was in my backyard, so it's not like I'm letting him run at large. These animals just can't seem to figure out that my yard is an unsafe place to raise their young! Does anyone have any suggestions, short of never letting him run loose in the yard or putting a muzzle on him?

My 10 week old mini pin fell down a large flight of stairs on her head today, she was trying to come down the stairs by herself(apt complex stairs) because i was at the bottom. I rushed her to the vet and they say her head is ok..(without an x-ray) but she broke her front paw. She will be coming home here in a hour. Is there anything i can do to help comfort her? And what are signs that her head may have internal bleeding so i will know somthings wrong??

I have to work all week 8-5 and I have an 8 month old dog. I live in an apartment...are there any tips or ideas you may have to keep her somewhat entertained? BTW... I leave her treats, she has a Kong ball...and I leave the TV on for noise... but I know she is bored to death. Any suggestions would be great.

Please don't be rude... I am just wondering.

She just goes over and eats the cat food without touching hers at anytime. We keep on having to buy so much cat food and I want it to stop. They are both out all day I can't just put the cat food up cause it drives my mom crazy. I'm wondering is there a type of dog food that most dogs usually love and will keep wanting that and stop eating the cat food.
