Chihuahuas do that often. I have owned many and all have the same problem if he has fleas that could be the problem. Talk to your vet it shouldn't be anything more serious than him swallowing some fleas. It isn't a good thing but its not terrible. Also one of my dogs show symptoms of asthma and he coughs a lot when it comes up but he lives a healthy happy life. Talk to your vet that's the best advice I can give.

You need to take your puppy to a vet right away. Alot of times, puppies are bred in puppy factory like conditions and they deveope some thing called "kennel cough". Your puppy may have come from one of these factories.Often times, breeds that are popular are bred in "puppy factories". Kennel cough does not go away by it's self....

Take it to the Vet to make sure it is nothing serious. It could be a number of things. Mine has the same cough occasionally, but it turned out to be nothing in particular.

most Chihuahua's will develop asthma if the owner or someone in the house has it.. if vet says the dog is healthy other wise it's something you and the dog will have to live with.. mine did that all the time and lived a long and happy life..

If it is only a 11 month old dog, so I am guessing that you just took it out of it's original enviornment. It could just be that the air in the house is moldy, too think, too dry....it's not use to it yet. try getting a dehumidifier, if the house feels too moist and a vaporizer if you think it could be too dry. or just try opening the windows in your house

Bordetella does not "go away"; it needs medication or the pup can die. Take the dog to a vet, ASAP.
Do you smoke? That will contribute to the dogs poor health too.

See a Vet ASAP. It's either kennel caugh or it has something lodged in its windpipe. Either way, it's something serious and should be treated.

You should really get him/her to the vet. Could be something serious, and cost you a lot of money or heartache if you wait.
