Yeah as long as someone is there to look over to doggy's, the should be fine. So go enjoy your trip and they will be happily waiting when you get back!!

What is wrong with you people saying it's OK to leave the dog for that long??? It's not "a day"; it's more like 2 days or maybe 3 if you are leaving early Friday and coming back late Sunday.
You will need to make some sort of arrangements for the dog. If you're leaving him inside, he needs to be taken outside to do his business. It's not a good idea to leave him outside, but if you are, someone needs to ensure he has access to water at all times. And in either case, as already mentioned, labs will eat all their food as soon as you give it. I'm sure your friend wouldn't have offered if she couldn't do it.

Perhaps you should reconsider your pregnant friend's offer.
I day / 2 nights is along time to leave a dog completely alone. At least have someone come by and check on him, make sure he hasn't knocked over his water bowl or anything.. He'll need to do his "business" too.
I hope you aren't going to leave him tied up outside either.. what if he gets lonely and howls? upsets a mean spirited neighbour? Also, if I know labs - he will no doubt eat all the food you leave for him in the first 1/2 hour.. then what? What happens if you are unexpectedly delayed??
If your pregnant friend knows your dog already, I'm sure she wouldn't offer if she didn't feel she were capable.. Please reconsider her offer - or perhaps consider a kennel or doggy daycare service for the weekend

I'm sorry but I can't even believe that there are people out there who would even consider going out of town for any length of time and not make arrangements for them to be looked after. Would you do that with a two year old child?
Get a dog sitter or at least arrange for a dog-walker to come twice a day to feed and walk.
Most dogs, if you leave out two days worth of food, will eat it all at once and then vomit it up (and if it is a lab, a large dog, it is at serious risk for bloat, which is life-threatening) and then have nothing for the rest of the time.
And honestly, do you want to clean up a weekend's worth of poop and pee from your house? It's not like a dog can use a toilet.

As long as she has food and water to last she will be okay. Have the friend at least check in on her to at least make sure she has food and water. I can't imagine any one being afraid of a lab, that is nuts, but anyway's I assume she will be left in a fenced yard and has some form of shelter - dog house, porch, someplace she can seek shade if needed. If your baby is a barker, it could cause problems if you are gone that long. You could contact a sitter service, they will come and check on your baby once or even twice a day for a very minimal charge. And they are not afraid of any kind of dogs

She will be fine. But make sure you give her a good amount of food and water. Also put away stuff that she might get that you dont want her to.Also if you have a gate in the back yard you should leave the door open, but only a few inches so she will know that it is open.

Just leave plenty of food and I like to leave the radio or some noise for them. Don't get mad if you have to clean up a few accidents. Other than that, pups do OK on their own. Have fun on your trip.
