They can cure it if the treatment is aggressive and you get going on it soon. As you know Lyme causing bacteria like to hide out in all the little hidey holes in the body, where white cells are less likely to go. So he may need treatment for a while and he will definitely need antibiotics. Antibiotics will also kill off good bacteria in the body, so you'll need to replace that with something - goat's milk yogurt (? ask your vet).
More advice: Find a second vet that is a holistic vet who can do chiropractic treatments. Just don't let them dissuade you from the antibiotic treatments.

There was a 13 year old dog at the match I went too last weekend that had had lyme several years ago and a recoccurance last year, he was showing his age but still doing fairly well and enoying life(wrestling with the families new puppy too). He had WON his rally class at the national this spring over dogs 1/3 his age. I can off the top of my head think of at least 6 dogs still going strong 5-6 years after lyme treatment (one was the WORLD agility gold metalist). Key is to get the antibiotics in him before the Lyme gets to his kidneys. AND give him ALL of them for the FULL time period.
The tick -L list is a god send if you run into unusual things your vet hasnt seen before. (saved one of my friends dogs life)

The prognosis for Lyme disease generally is excellent when patients are treated early with appropriate antibiotic regimens.
Feed him a premium high antioxidant dog food. Ask at your local (not chain) pet supply for their special formula dog kibbles.
Most good shops carry Solid Gold Fish and Rice.

Follow the treatment plan provided by your vet and he should be fine.
Please make sure your dog gets a Lyme vaccine every year - they first time he gets the vaccine, he'll have to go back in 3 weeks to get another - then they are yearly :)

Lyme disease is a managable condition. If you caught it early and are starting treatment soon, the dog should be fine.

Take good care of him, he can survive. Lyme disease is carried and transmitted by deer ticks. ALWAYS take ticks off of your dogs.
Get treatment for your dog, he can survive. How well he does is yet to be decided. Results vary.

uh yeah. If he's been diagnosed I assume that means by a Vet. The Vet should provide the treatment. If you didn't take him to the Vet get him there now.

Chocolate is brown - what color are chocolate labs? Brown! And no chocolate lab is yellow. Chocolate describes the color ranges from silvery brown to dark brown - but chocolate labs all have brown noses and brown eye rings. Yellow labs range from almost white to fox red, but always have black noses (as do black labs).
