hold old does a kitten have to be so that it does "its buisness" on its own with out its mother's help, and how old do they have to be to be sperated from their mother so they dont need her warmth, milk, and ect.

I adopted a black cat from a no-kill shelter 2 months ago and I love him. He's very affectionate and LOVES attention. The problem is just that. He jumps everywhere, he cries, he will do anything to get attention. Then when you're giving him attention he never lets you stop. And if you force stopping, he goes to another person. He also has a habit of wanting to eat human food all the time, which is not good to give to cats. What do I do with him?

My cat got several vaccinations on Wednesday -- feline leukemia, rabies, etc. The vet gave her all of her shots in her back legs. Now she's acting like her back legs hurt -- she won't jump in the air like she usually does, and she climbs a lot more gingery than she had been. Is this normal? (I know that when I get a shot in my arm, my arm is sore for a few days...is this just the same thing?)

I'm going to be getting two kittens very soon and I wanted to know if it would be better to get two seperate litterboxes or if it would be okay to get one litterbox and use multi-cat litter.

I have 3 cats and I really would like to have opinions from people who has 2 or more cats who tried using multi-cat litter and just plain normal cat litter.

Is it worth the extra money to get multi-cat litter? did you see any difference? would you recommand it?

I expect we'll just have whatever is available at the time, but if we are given the choice, would it be better to have two boys, two girls or one of each.

Cat owners, any opinions?

my cat is a female,
we used to let her outside until our other cat recently got sick.
Today our cat left a stool sample on my bed,
and just a few minutes ago, urinated on the bed.
What is wrong with her?

Well Thanks to everyone that helped and answered with honest caring answers to my declawing question. Now I have another one. Yes its about the same cat. (Hey I love my dear Kit-Kat, next to my soon-to-be newborn he's my life). Yes he is fixed, I couldn't stand the smell of male cat urine before I got pregnant and after where I volunteered I got sick at the smell LOL.

My cat hairballs like crazy, he's a long haired cat, I brush and comb him, I've tried the little hairball lick sticks, the special food, I've even gone out and got the tuna in oil to work, butter and all that stuff. But he hair balls all the time and I was wondering if there was anything I could give him for it besides the above mentioned.

Three days ago I treated my cats with the very effective Frontline and just a moment ago she was on my lap and I saw a small flea, not an adult, they are obviously getting re-infected somewhere what shall I do?, if I let them in will the house become re-infested or do I carry on as normal and let them in.

I recently asked a question and came under attack by people assuming I don't care and saying I should give up my animal. I'm going to ask this again and I would appreciate only honest, wholesome answers instead of attacking me.

I have a cat that tears up furniture. I do not wish to declaw him but he does not respond to punishment. I don't want to do this but I can't have him tearing up the furniture my recently deceased grandfather made (THIS WOULD MAKE IT IRREPLACABLE). I have tried 1) punishing him with a) paddling, b) newspapers, c) water bottles, d) even noisy cans. He has a scratching post and I've even showed him how to use it and rewarded him for the 2 times that he did. I can't hold him down to put soft paws on him and I am soon to have a newborn. I choose my cat over the father of my child due to the fact that he beat my cat and I left as soon as I caught him doing that so he wouldn't do it to anything else living as long as I could control it.
