Why do cats prefer milk?

They love it just like they love ice cream. But you are KILLING your cat(s) by giving them milk. Milk has the same affect on cats as it does humans, clogs the blood vessels and the cat dies young of a hart attack. It also hastens urinary breakdowns and the pet has to be put to sleep. Once a cat is whined from its mother, the same for a dog, only water, and also water available 24/7 - your cat can survive without food for several days, but will die quite quickly without a good supply of water. Leave a dish full on the floor all the time.

Hi there...Contrary to the popular thought that cats love milk—and most do like the taste—it typically is not good for them. For many cats, it causes digestive upset and sometimes diarrhea. This is because most cats lack an enzyme therefore can't digest milk properly because it contains lactose (milk sugar), which may cause loose bowels.

There are specially formulated kitty “milks” available at pet stores that do not have cow's milk in them or that are treated with the enzyme lactase to break down the milk sugar and make it digestable. Please consider looking for one of these next time you would like to give kitty milk.

They may prefer milk but it isn't good for them.Cats in the wild never have milk .Since vet told me this years ago I've only given mine water and have had healthy cats.

Cats drink water, not milk, they prefer it, just like any other animal does! You'll make the cat ill with milk!

PS... never give dogs chocolate either... it can kill a dog, just because yours may eat it, doesn't mean one day it wont suffer severe reaction!

Cats can eat dog food, dogs cannot, and must not, eat cat food either!

They are not supposed to drink milk. Go to the pet store and buy canned milk or just give your cat water. they are fine w it

They just like milk. You shouldn't give them milk because it can be bad for them. I think cats are lactose intolerant it can give them the runs!
They have cats milk which doest do this and apparently tastes just as good.

Why do any of us like things that are bad for us?
you shouldn't give cats milk, they cant digest it properly and it fattens them. My cats only take water and given the choice turn up the nose to tap water and will only drink from puddles

Some cats like milk, but it's not good for them. It causes digestive upset and diarrhea.

My own cat, Tika, won't even drink milk.

Actually, many cats can't tollerate cows milk and it gives them the runs. That being said, it just tastes good. Mine seem to prefer it room temperature.
