I have multiple cats, so at any one time I have quite a bit of kitty litter on hand, and have multiple litter boxes. I actually provide three different clumping litters. Arm and Hammer, Scoop Way and Tidy Cat (red label). Tidy Cat is probably the one my cats to through the most. Why? It gives them options, and I use coupons. I haven't used non-clumping litter for a very long time. Some of my cats seem to show a preference for one over the other. I don't mix the litter.

To be honest, as long as you use the scoopable litter, and tend the litterboxes at least once a day, you don't need a multi-cat formula. I have multi-cats, and I just use the Tidy Cats scoopable and have no problems. If the multi-cat happens to be on sale that week, then I buy the multi-cat. As far as I can see, the only difference between Tidy Cats plain and Tidy Cats Multi is the fragrance they put in it.
I just don't like the clay litters. They are more expensive to use in the long run, make a lot of dust, and don't control odor as well.

Not that I know of. I have three cats and we use normal kitty litter, or you know, the special kind that clumps and can be flushed. We don't use multi kitty litter though. It's more of a commercial thing and costs more, thats about it.
So I recommedn just the normal cat litter but with clumping ability. Use whatever your cat likes! Some cats like crystal litters, some sand, some pellets, its your and their choice hehe. Hope everything works out!
PS
Either way, their pee and poo is still going to smell horrible lol.

I have used both (I have 4 cats) and find there really is no difference between the two. I usually get the cheaper stuff cause having multiple cats, they do tend to go through some litter! LOL I say you do not have to go to the expense when regular litter is just as good.

My aunt has 2 cats and she uses regular litter, I have 1 cat and i use multi cat litter and they seem to work just the same, I just started using this regular litter called nutriplan and i use it with the arm and hammer cat box freshener and that works really good. I think you should try regular cat litter with the box freshener.

Never seen a difference.
We have 3 cats that share a box (actually 2 side by side, but essentially one spot).
We use the brand "Simplicity Plus" - great clumping action, great odor absorption.

To be honest, I dont see the difference. I have 2 cats and I clean the littler every other day and it works out for me and my cats.

no difference, although when i got a litter maid catbox,(automatic catbox) i did notice,it is pricey, but worth it and you will never have to touch the litter with a scooper again, just dump the pan.and that's what its called, the Litter Maid.ideal for a multiple cat household.

I have two cats and it makes no difference at all, to us. But avoid generic and store brands, they just turn to sludge instead of clumping.
