i need to know for my pony club home work

2007-11-06 05:52:10 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous in Other - Pets

I've grown up my whole life with large breeds and absolutely adore and trust them when they are raised properly. My boyfriend and I are considering buying a puppy and he seems to think that larger breeds are more inclined to bite, even when properly socialized and trained. The breed I am considering is a Vizsla, which is a very gentle breed from what I hear.

How should I convince him otherwise?

this probably sounds stupid, but what does it mean when someone says "breed standard" when talking about the breed. in that i mean any purebred when they say stuff like "the dog is a great specimen of the breed." how do you know what a "great specimen" of a particular breed is? do you judge this by the way the dog looks or does it have to do with championship wins? i don't breed or show, but have always been curious of this. thanks in advance.

He has green boogers in his eyes all the time, which then leak out and harden, glueing his eyes shut and making him miserable. One vet said his tear ducts aren't working and I should put drops in his eyes, which I have now for a couple of months without any improvement.

Anyone have a better answer?

She is an 18 year old Dachshund. I know she'll be gone before too much longer. She's blind and deaf, but we love her. And this morning I noticed she hadn't moved from the spot where she fell asleep last night, So I picked her up and took her out side, and she looked like she was incapable of walking. She tried, but everytime she did so, her hind legs would go out from under her. [kind of like she was squatting.] Even on the carpet.
What's wrong with her? Paralyzed? Nerve Damage? Too much pain??

I was just curious because the lady next door is giving away puppies and I was thinking of getting one male and one female but I was wondering when they got older would they well you know. If so I wasn't going to get two because I don't want a lot of puppies running around.

Um...I want a cat and I want a squirrel. And I want them both to just be cute and run around the house being adorable and nibbling and scratching on things, and pooping, and loving me, and letting me pet, and feed, and watch TV with them. Will the cat murder the squirrel?

I have 2 kids (11 and 8). I just found out that we are not able to have dogs in our home, so I gave my kids an option of a guinea pig or a hamster. Which do you think is better for the kids? ei. age approriate, costly, easier to handle

We got our purebred Schnoodles from a great breeder, or so we thought. We got two from the same litter, a male and female as we were told they'd fight less. But she told us that sister and brothers wouldn't try and mate, as that would be inbreeding. The are about 7 months old now, and the other day they were...well...you know. So is this just playing, or can they have puppies? Also, the girl seems to be on her period, how long will this last?A week or so?Thanks!

A cat next door that looks like it's being neglected keeps coming to our door and meowing like in pain or something. Looks like it has a serious flea problem. I'd like to help but my grandmother just got rid of a flea infestation our house. The poor cat looks hungry and lonely, it seems to want affection. Could it have been abused?

I don't see why people have animals if they won't care for it. It's pretty heartbreaking.

Is there anything I can really do for the cat's sake without it coming close to our home all the time?

I have noticed alot of answers to questions pertaining to mixed breeds have been answered negatively. I am not a breeder nor do I have any interest in becoming one but, I wonder why it is considered by the majority to be bad thing to cross breed dogs, like puggles for example, they are really cute and if people want them why is it considered to a bad thing? I know you can get mixed breeds from shelters but, it may not be the mix one desires. Didn't every breed start as a "mixed breed"?

I am just curious ... :0)

I feed her a mix of lambs hearts, braising beef and lambs livers, once a day (evening meal), her coat is gleaming and her general health is excellant.. The vet has advised me not to due to the risk of salmonella and e.coli poisoning.. Not sure what to do.. Dogs used to be fed raw meat!!??

The dog should arrive on Friday. I have a utility room cleaned out that is all his. I am going to buy the food the breeder recommended (Iams, eukasomething I think) in a big bag, food and water dishes, leash and collar, large dog bed, 4-5 toys, shampoo and a box of treats and a grooming brush with soft bristles. The dog is 14 months old. Is there anyhting else I may need? I have never owned a dog this large before.

How much food should I give my 13 week old cocker spaniel puppy, she appears to be hungry all the time. I give her 100 grammes dry food per day in 3 meals, is that enough? I don't want her fat and overweight.

My question is, does anyone know of any puggles for sale in MN that is relatively a good price that have also had shots, dewormed etc....also does anyone know...is it bad to get a puggle that came from a female pug and a male beagle? Is that still considered a puggle? I know the original cross should be a male pug and female beagle...anyone know anything?

I am in desperate need of getting my three female pits and 1 female cat fixed. I can't afford much. I live in Columbus Georgia and the cheapest I can find is $ 65 dollars each at our local humane society. Does anyone know of a place that might to it for cheaper or free?

I had 1 male rat and 3 female rats the females gave birth we then had around 32 and my mum set free all the female rats (including baby rats) except for 1 adult and 1 baby. She will do the same to the rest of them but I don't want her to so I hope that somepeople will take some as I want to save as many as I can.
(I have tried phoning rescue centers but they didn't reply so I went on to their website and it says that they can't take any more pets same with pet shops).
What should I do ?

Since my dogs are inside dogs & all short hair, I need some information here regarding a Husky (Cody) I recently took in.
She has always been an outside dog, doesn't want to stay in the house for any length of time, so my question is, "how cold is too cold for her to be out?"
I have her a house set up on the enclosed deck, the house is insulated & has straw in it , but she won't even get in it. Right now she is sleeping on a dog bed on the deck beside the house. Since I have never had a dog live outside our home, I'm having a problem dealing with this.
The home she was abandoned at, she use to sleep under a deck on the cold ground so I know she does have it better here, but I do want to have her come inside if / when it gets too cold.
Any & all help / advice will be greatly appreciated by myself & Cody.
