Um...I want a cat and I want a squirrel. And I want them both to just be cute and run around the house being adorable and nibbling and scratching on things, and pooping, and loving me, and letting me pet, and feed, and watch TV with them. Will the cat murder the squirrel?

I had an orphaned squirrel once. My cat was a very special fellow and left him alone BUT I just wouldn't trust them to be together unsupervised. Cats are such creatures of instinct that they will react upon things without any thought.
The end of this story may make you decide against it though. Poor "Skippy" (squirrel) died after chewing on a plastic cord. Since squirrels are rodents-they chew on everything! Your squirrel would have to be caged for his own sake.
Last and most important- It is illegal in most places to keep wild animals as pets. They can carry exotic parasites, not to mention rabies!

I have cats and dogs and birds and have had rats. The dogs have learned to be kind to small animals, but the cats you can't trust this way. I never allow the cats in the room when I take the birds out of the cage. I wouldn't let a cat get near a pet rodent. Even with humans, a cat will sometimes scratch; they don't understand. And their mouths are full of bad germs, unlike dogs, so even a little bite could kill a small animal by infection. They just can't play together.

I'm not sure but most of the time if to animals are brought up together they will be friends, but if you have one pet for about a year and then get a new pet that is smaller than the old pet, the old pet will kill the new pet.

Cats are the chaser and squirrels are the chasee. My canines might chase lizards. After a collectively as, they leaned not run away. whilst they did not run, my canines stopped working at them. Now whilst my canines lies on the floor outdoors, the lizards run over and lie on real of her. in no way see a squirrel try this. they are basically easy NUTS.
