Your hamster could possibly be preparing itself for hibernation. Id its asleep a lot and rarely ventures out, only to return with food to its bed, then this is the case. Hamster kept in cold rooms are prone to hibernation. When Syrian hamsters lived in the wild, they hibernated for several months through winter, curling up and going into a dormant state where they feel cold to touch and don't react to being poked.

More hibernating hamsters have been buried alive by their owners, than ones which were actually dead. To bring him round, the heating needs to be warmer. If he does dose off and becomes dormant, pick him up cupped in your hands and breath warm air on him. He will start to stir and wake up.

No, I don't think the pine bedding is the problem. That would cause a more low-level chronic problem, if any, and would get better when you changed the type of bedding.

If you're concerned you should take it to the vet.
However, your hamster may just be bored. Try adding more things to its cage for it to interact with.

How is he acting sick or hurt? Is he just not as active or is it more?
