Ok. I might be getting a dog, I need a dog that is small(like a dog in the toy group) I am also willing to groom my dog once or twice a day. The dog must be good with kids, the dog must only need at least one walk a day and it has to be a cheep dog(I was thinking about geting a mutt but idk if its the best dog for me)

I have a 20 gallon tank with two platies, 3 zebra danios, 2 aquatic dwarf frogs, and 2 algae eaters. I dont know what kind of algae eater they are but they are only an inch long and grow to only 2 inches. about how much square inchs can they normaly eat in one day?

I was reading about setting up aquaria, and in the book it stated that aged tapwater or bottled water could be used, but not distilled water. So the question is this: what is it about distilled water that is so different from normal water that it can't be used in an aquarium?

Just today when i walked to my tank and i looked at my betta. He looked back and his gills opened up all the way and became paralell to his face. Is this normal? Is it normal to have a black flap under his gills?

My mother-in-law's 3 year old cat has come to live with us. He has been in the house for an hour and is still in his crate. I know he will be scared at first and we just check on him. Can you give us any pointers to make him more comfortable? It is very quiet here, no kids, and we are just letting him do his thing...which seems to be hiding! Thanks

My Esther - a chow mix, came to me having just had12 puppies, she was extremely emaciated and HW+ It is also obvious that she was beaten. She hid for weeks behind the shed and gradually bonded with me.

Now six months later she has come quite a long way, with firm handling she is a nice dog to walk and a pretty mellow house dog. Unfortunately she has attacked a couple of the neigbors dogs recently - when we did not latch the gate. I have another dog agressive dog who encourages her, she is a australian shepherd mix and very bossy, so I do not walk them together.
She plays kind of rough with the third dog and I do not let them
stay in the yard alone .

Another problem is that her heart is damaged from the HW, she cannot run without discomfort. I really love her and want the best for her, my husband is not sure she wont get worse, she has attacked one of my cats - the other one stands up for himself. Do you think she is in a lot of pain, its so hard to tell with dogs

I had 4 neon tetras, 2 white skirt tetras, and 1 young swordtail (only 2 inches long right now) in a 10 gallon (the other young swordtail is in another tank as she is pregnant). Today I noticed that I only saw 3 neon tetras, which was normal because often they hide really well in plants and I can't find them. But then I removed all the plants and fake coral from my tank and combed through the gravel and still didn't find the 4th neon. Is it possible that she died behind a plant where I couldn't see her, and the other fishes ate her corpse?

I just tested water levels, they are fine, I realize that any living thing can sometimes die without much of an explanation. I just want to know if it is possible that the other fish ate her corpse?

I am going to an out of state college for 4 years, and I need another pet that is NOT a bird, that can stay at home alone for at LEAST 9 hours. Maybe 6-8. I'll be gone from like 8 am to 6 or 5 pm. I also want this pet to play, be furry, and sociable and loveable toward me. Also that will be nice to my bird and I won't have to worry about leaving them alone at the house together. When I'm done college I am going to be either a Marine Biologist or a Massage Therapist so I need a pet that can either go with me or can stay at home with my bird. Please help me, I'd appreciate it! I have a new filter, a skimmer, special dissolving pills, the stuff called clear away. I don't know what else to do. The tank is 25 litres so it's a bit of a pain to have to clean twice a week. I also bought one of those fish that clean the tank (I can't remember what it's called) and nothing. I've only got 3 fish in there and they're not big. Help?
