I just looked at my book of complete British insects and found the ladybird that fits your description.
The ladybird which has a black wing casing and has four large red spots. The pine ladybird; EXOCHOMUS 4-PUSTULATUS. They are common in Britain in the south but not the north.
My book says that most British ladybirds when picked up exude a long lasting pungent fluid with odour but they are not poisonous.

There are many species of ladybird, including the traditional red with black spots, the black with red spots and the yellow with black spots.
None are dangerous to humans, though it used to be said the yellow ones were poisonous....

Red and black are colours used to warn predators off, but they don't usually mean that something's dangerous.
(Scorpions and rattlesnakes are venomous, but also camouflaged in the colours they live near. A deadly ability can also be used for hunting, so colours aren't beneficial)
The colours (including black & yellow, red and white, and black & white) of a ladybird mostly communicate to birds (their main predator) that it tastes horrible.
Many small animals use this strategy; if you make yourself obvious, but taste bad, a bird will soon learn that it's not worth eating you. Every bird needs to eat somebody that looks like you, to find this out, but statistically, it's more likely to be somebody else.

Im not sure what those are, but I live in IN and we had an evasion of a Asian type ladybug, they are much like the red and black ones that we are use to but instead of red they are orange colored. They can produce in great amounts and stay for a long time I don't think they have any enemies thats why we see so many.Thay seem to be harmless to the human.

No ladybirds are dangerous to people but if you live in the UK and you see one of these ones, kill it immediately, it is an invasive species and is dangerous to native lady bird population.
