i put a pregnant swordtail in it and when its in the tank, all the fish go up to the tank and just wait and stay there. why is that happening?

Up to the tank and stay there? You mean at the surface of the water? If that is indeed the case, then I'm thinking that is ammonia, and is your breeding tank a new set up that normally doesn't house fish? Check your water chemistry first.

They are just curious about the new box inside their house, its not normal and they are taking time out of their busy schedule to check it out... it's ok, mine did the same thing when I got a breeder for my guppy. Good luck with the fry! :0)

That's a very good question, but fascinating to watch as well

It seems sometimes like they are guarding the female and the babies

curious when i do that to mine they just sit watch for hrs then when the babies are born they just kinda swim round like play with em haha

They're probably just checking it out to osee what it is. It won't hurt your fish in any way.

They are curious/anticipating food (babies) so they will hang around it..
