I have a new filter, a skimmer, special dissolving pills, the stuff called clear away. I don't know what else to do. The tank is 25 litres so it's a bit of a pain to have to clean twice a week. I also bought one of those fish that clean the tank (I can't remember what it's called) and nothing. I've only got 3 fish in there and they're not big. Help?

Could be a bacterial bloom, I would suggest to stop using clear away, and special dissolving pills. Let the tank sit and adjust.
Please tell me you at least let your tank cycle..... If you could answer these questions for me,
Ammonia=
NitrItes=
NitrAtes=
as long as you have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and <20ppm nitrates, you are fine.
But once again just let the tank sit for a couple of days..

You should let you tank sit and stop putting pills inside the tank. You may be feeding them too much if your having to clean it twice a week. You should check if your filter is the correct size for the tank. You did not mention how you clean your fish tank but you are only supposed to do a 20-40 % water change because the fish leave good bacteria in the water than help them survive. Oh and a pleco isn't going to help clear the water it just eats the algea off the plants or the walls. Hope this helps.

As others have said: It appears that you are feeding too much. . . .just a small pinch is all the 3 or 4 fish need Daily. . . .Also, Clean the filter, and run the filter constantly for a few days, cleaning the filter daily (most can be flushed thoroughly with running water in a sink),

and the only other thing you can do is Remove the fish, and to drain ---just half--- of the tank, and replace with water and the liquid called "Start Right". which neutralized the chlorines and chloramines that are in our water. Wait for the temperature to equalize fefore adding your fish back to the tank.

This should help

hello there there is a point everyone is missing .....well my first question is how old is your fish tank? The reason i ask is when they r new they go threw a chemical inbalance called new tank syndrom it will cycle for the first 6 weeks you have your tank set up the best thing you can do is leave it alone the more you clean it the worst it get it can cause your fish can die the water will get clowly dont clean nothing no matter how duirty it is and it will balance out after a while but everytime you change your tank you cause it to start its cycle all over again ....the only thing after it cycles you need is stress coat nothing else so stop wasting your money on chemicals you dont need the pet stores will tell you to buy everything to sell there products so just leave it alone i have a tank for 4 years of goldfish i spent alot of money at first i couldnt even see my fish then after six weeks it cleared up on its own

you have a 6.7 us gallon tank on your hand
You should only have to do a partial waterchange of 25% weekly with a gravelsiphon, not more

Don't over feed your fish, only what they will eat in a period of 3-5 min at each feeding twice a day

For the bottom dweller you put one algae wafer in every 2 days, and that in the evening before the light turns off

Never use chemicals on your tank, they are not worth the money

How long have you had the tank set up?
what's the ammonia level?

Will check back later

Hope that helps
good luck

that is a bacterial bloom. look that up. you're very incorrect approximately combating nutrition. Your fish can stay for over a month with out nutrition. This situation exists by way of fact the tank has no longer been cycled. as quickly as colonies of effective micro organism advance on reliable, porous, nicely aerated surfaces on your tank and clear out (to out compete the water clouding micro organism for nutrition) the water will sparkling on that is very own. until then you ought to visual exhibit unit ammonia ranges (an later nitrite ranges) and carry out small partial water adjustments to maintain those ranges under poisonous.

You could be feeding them too much food. The food is just dissolving in the water and making it cloudy. Make sure when you feed them that they are eating it all and not letting very much just sit there.

You may be feeding the fish to much. this will make the water go cloudy faster. cut back on the food and se if that will help.

The fish that cleans & eats algae is called a pleco :]

Sounds like your doing everything you should. Maybe the fish arent eating their food & its clouding up the water?

Try feeding them less, or even changing their diet.

When did you buy your tank? If you just bought it and it clouds up, thats perfectly normal.
