I don't know about the borax but I've had great success with just table salt. I sprinkle it everywhere, inside and out. The next day I vacuum the beds, and floors, sofas, etc. I repeat once a week until I see no fleas. You should need two to four treatments at most.

Borax mixed with a little sugar and put into soda bottle caps to slide under the refrigerator is a great remedy for killing cockroaches, but it won't do a thing for fleas.

A dehumidifier in the room can dry out the air enough so that the eggs won't hatch (they'll die) but that won't get rid of hatched fleas.

Adding 1/4 teaspoon of brewers yeast on the cats food every day (and you eat some too) will make all of you taste too bad to the fleas that they won't bite.

I have no idea.

However, diatomaceous earth is very cheap (found in gardening stores), and totally non-toxic to your pets as well as humans. You can sprinkle on your carpet, in bedding, even on your cat, lol. You can use in your garden to control other pests, just realize that it will kill all insects...including lady bugs and other beneficial bugs.

It is not a poison. It is just ground up fossils. But it basically dehydrates the bugs.

My cat has seizures related to flea stuff, so this is what we use. It has worked very well for us, and no problems with the cats.
