Hey, im like obsessed with animals, and i want to become a vet, so that i can help them. except ive seen these books and movies that are really sad because the vets have to see these poor animals die. does anyone know any jobs that there are that you can work with animals?

I know that we are supposed to go to the vet to get our cats booster shots every year. Over here, it is MANDATORY that we get a yearly rabies shot. But what about the other shots? Is it really necessary to give our cats a booster shot every year, ESPECIALLY if our cats live indoors? I have always been up to date with all my cat's shots, but lately I have been wondering if it is even necessary. What do you guys think?

I am setting up a 10 gallon reef aquarium, and once the tank cycles, what fish or shrimps or crabs should I put in? i am most curious about fish, I have heard that firefish and clownfish are good, is this true? and what else is good? can i put an anemone in? Also, where do you recommend i buy light fixtures and bulbs? (i am not a beginner at salwater, i8 have had a 55 gallon marine aquarium for 6 years, but i am new to reef)

Why do people seem to take the attitude that fish are merely decorations and don't need a proper environment in which to live their lives?

Fish need quite a lot of care and attention and should be regarded as a hobby rather than just another pet.

Fish can feel suffering and pain just as other animals can and I just wish that people would take the responsibility of keeping a fish more seriously.

If you are thinking of getting a fish then please make sure that it has a decent sized tank to live in and a filtration system in order to keep the water clean and healthy. It is a fallacy that fish can just put up with frequent water changes and enjoy swimming around in chlorine and other nasty chemicals each week!

A filtration system is cheap and easy to run and maintain and will make a huge difference to the health and wellbeing of the fish! Undergravel filters hardly cost anything to buy and maintain if you just want something cheap and simple.

Fish have feelings too!

Hi ppl

I have close to an 8month old German Shepherd Pure brred Girl puppy. She is very classy looking but in my head she could do to gain weighht. She thinks eating is like a chore..she only eats when i keep putting the food bowl by her every time she lies down and this takes and hour to get at least(when im lucky) She eats the purina puppy chow.(i know its fuccccked up food here in the caribbean they probly to cheap to buy proper dog food for the stores (they sell pedigree-Purina_beneful)commercial brands.Neways she eats but with a gripe and i dont see ribs but i can feel them so should i have her gain weight or what cuz she supposed to be a large breed dog. Also i have a 5month malegermanshepherd and actually he looks bigger than my 8month old Wats with this..Does ths have to do with her being sick for at least a MONTH with Lepto(aka Jaundice) cuz she came back from the vet like a skeleton.neways has this affected her growth cuz i think she shud be big.Will she be small 4everhlp

I noticed that when my Texas Cichlid fought with my Jack Dempsey, the JD was badly injured. A big part of it's right side was badly damaged with flesh being shown and dots of red in the area. After a few hours a protective layer was formed. That nearly looked like a bubble. I understand that this layer is made because of the surrounding water will not get to the wound. So it will ultimately heal quicker and properly. But what is this layer made of, if there is a name of it, i would love to hear that. Then I could research it myself.

When my mom went walking this morning she found a baby bird, so we saved it! It doesn't look like a regular bird, perhaps a different species. But anyways it's been out in the heat for quite some time & it's breathing pretty hard. We haven't touched it with our hands yet just incase it had some sort of disease. But I don't know what to feed it? Should we keep it outside under shade? Or inside? Should we keep it warm?

I have a 3 month going to 4month Golden Retriever and he hate dry food i have given him Pro plan and he does not eat looks at it and then i gave him science diet puppy food but he wont eat it also. but then i gave him pedigree Wet food, and quickly finish the whole can, Is it alright that i gave him wet food.

We are moving out of state to pursue job oppurtunities and have been unable to find a rental that will allow our two cats. We will be purchasing a home in six months once we have our new jobs settled, but we need to have our cats cared for until then. Are there any organizations that provide temporary foster care for owners in the eastern North Carolina area? All of our friends and family are either allergic to cats or have too many pets already. We don't want to put them up for adoption, but are running out of options. They are older cats (13 and 14) and I'm afraid they wouldn't be adopted through an agency because of their age. Does anyone have any ideas or information?

I have an 11 month old Maltese. I've noticed lately that for no apparent reason, she starts to shake like she's very cold or very scared. This usually happens after she uses the bathroom. I've had her since she was 3 months old, and I know her previous owners, so I know she wasn't abused. I never get on her about her accidents, because I know it's not her fault, it's mine for not training her right. Anyone else ever see this in a dog?
Also, she is 11 months old, and hasn't had her first heat. Is this normal? My other female dog is fixed, so I don't know when to expect it.
I am taking her to the vet, but her appointment isn't for 2 weeks. So please, no comments just saying "take her to the vet"

well I had a hamster that a friend gave me and It was in a wooden cage,well what do you know... The hamster made a hole and escaped. I have no idea where it could be. It has been roaming my house and I havent seen it, and at times i wonder if it is still alive. My friend should have known better than giving me a wooden cage since I dont know about hamsters. Anyways I really liked that hamster so much and Im thinking about getting me another one,well I just wanted to know which kind is the best as pets?k thanks

my famliy and I lost our cat about 2mo. ago and we just recently found him a mile away from our house with this lady that gave him food twice a day and brought him inside the house and pretty much loved him for 2mo., and we brought him home right away and let him run around and explore and let him remember the place. Im not sure what type it is as we are looking after it for my school. It is brown with darker brown sripes runing down the length of its body, and is a constrictor. We feed it every two weeks with adult mice and water it when nessesary.

whats wrong is that it is jumpy and has bit me lately as i went to touch him, everytime i go to the cage i tap on the glass so not to startle it as i put my hand in, i did this and put my hand in and he bit me. Now whenever i go near the cage he is jumpy and follows my every move, he also tried to bite me today but the glass was between us.

I realy need to know whats wrong because until he lets us touch him we cannot clean his cage out.
