Since your dog won't eat the dry food, try mixing a little water in with the dry food. It makes it softer and a 'wet' dog food -like consistency. Then when the dog starts eating it that way for a while (for about 2-3 wks), you can gradually start to feed it the dry food without adding water too it.
Hopefully that way, you can teach the dog to eat the dry kibble.

I can't see anything wrong in giving him the Pedigree Wet Food if he will eat it. He is still very young and I think you have just got to let him eat something he likes at the moment, otherwise you could end up with a very skinny puppy..
Once you have got him eating regular meals you can then start gradually introducing dry kibble by sprinkling it on top of the Pedigree, if you want to feed him dry of course.
Just make sure you give him enough food now to keep up with his growth. He should be having three meals per day and when he gets to 6 months old you can then get him on to two meals per day. Weigh him and feed him the correct amount as shown on the can or packet according to his weight. Goldens have a terrific growth spurt between 3 months and 7 months so you must pack the food into him now to prevent him from going thin and leggy.

My brother's dog is rather picky also. I myself have to dogs who happen to be chow hounds. So what I did for my brother's dog (I now have her for a few months while he's away on travel) I switched her food to a premium dog food. ONLY DRY! No by products, no fillers such as corn or barley. (I switched her to Nutro)..however you can choose from a variety of great premium dog foods.
Anyway... to help promote her to eat the dry food I first put some chicken or beef broth on it. It's all natural, then put it in the microwave. It brought out the aroma and made it more alluring. After a few weeks of that I lessoned the broth and started putting water in instead till I was just using water. I'm now at the point where I'm using less and less water till I get to the point where it's only dry.
Make the eating experience very pleasurable. When she's eating or goes near the food give her pets and scratches and verabally encourage her to eat.
Also it helps to feed them in meals. Put the food down for 10-15 minutes. If she doesn't eat pick the food back up till the next feeding. My brother's dog used to get fed all day long so she just picked at her food. It took her 2 days to clean her plate when her was fed on a meal schedule. (The second day I started using the broth).
You can also just skip the broth step and go straight to using water - putting it in the microwave for a few minutes and viola!!! use the broth as a treat every once in awhile.
Be wary of canned foods. It tends to rot their teeth by sticking in between them. Unless you're frequently brushing his teeth you should steer clear.
Works like a charm!!
Good Luck

It really all depends on whether or not it's puppy food. Having a finicky pet isn't a good thing. You are obviosly going to give them what is best for them, so the wet food may be good but if they refuse to eat whats is best for them, then you need to leave it there until they get hungry enough and eat it any way. Tough Love. Their health will thank you

My dog actually ate too much wet food and got overweight, but since you have a puppy, it'll probably be alright for now. Maybe you should ask a vet this question.

Dogs find canned food highly palatable, but if you feed canned, you'll have to brush his teeth a lot more. I recommend feeding raw.
http://www.auntjeni.com
http://www.naturesvariety.com
Both the links are from companies that sell healthy raw meat. Also feed raw bones as their "toothbrush"; it is good for their teeth and very delicious to dogs.
If you are unsure about feeding raw, I recommend feeding Nature's Variety Instinct kibble and/or cans, or Natural Balance kibble. Natural Balance has been afflicted with the recalls, but they have tested all their products for the contaminants and they are now safe. They've reformulated their popular recalled items, so Natural Balance is safe and certainly healthier than, say, crappy Iams or trashy Eukanuba or disgusting Pedigree.
DP--you seem to be very knowledgeable about dog food! That is a relief, as everyone here seems to not know about the evils of most dog foods and keeps saying thinks like "EUKANUBA IS BEST" or "Iams is healthy and inexpensive; feed it to your dog"!
Just to let everyone know, Iams is junk and not healthy at all, and so is Eukanuba.

you need to ask your vet, not us peons.
my daughter was told to feed their new puppy only dry food and that the wet food will cause complications. sure, the pup loves the wet food and tries to steal it out of the other dog's dish, but if it isn't good for him, it isn't good for him. [fortunately, the older dog guards her wet food zealously and won't let the pup have any -- she loves the wet food too.]

Some dogs live on wet food, so I'd say its OK that you gave it to him. Just make sure that he has some good chew toys to clean his teeth.
I feed my dogs raw meat, and I think that you should try it. Its better than canned and dry. :)
