I have had a siberian husky and he was a wonderful dog! Shiloh, our husky, was a one person dog. He bonded with my sister and was her baby. He was still friendly and protective over all of our family but more so with her. He was very active, loved to play, got along well with our other dogs and cats. He was very smart. Like all dogs, if they are untrained or mistreated they can become aggressive, but if you properly train the dog and spend time with it, usually there are little problems. Any dog can benefit from obedience classes, especially larger dogs. The following links have information on the breed itself and basically what to expect appearance and temperament wise. Hope this helps!

My dog is an Alaskan Malamute - basically a big husky. He's very protective, stubborn, bossy, and makes noises like a Wookie. His bark is very loud. My kids and I adore him. He does not see the point in playing fetch, but he loves to run. He sheds almost constantly. He's about 5 years old, but he still chews on shoes, books, Coke cans, and whatever else he can sink his teeth into. He is part wolf so it comes with the territory. He hates being alone. We cannot leave him in the yard because he whines and drives the neighbors nutz. A problem trait is that he loves to wander. I had to get new gates that he cannot climb. Chain link is not a good choice if you're trying to contain a malamute. Also, he does not get on well in the heat. I have to leave the AC on for him, and my electric bill is huge in the summer time.

I have 2 Huskies (well part Husky part Akita) and they are awesome dogs. The only problems we have with them is they LOVE to run away and they shed ALOT. We got them shaved this summer and it made life SOOO much easier over the summer. They're very smart and will train very fast if its something they want to do and as long as I had treats or gave them alot of praise, it was very easy. They're pack animals so its best to have another animal in the house because they don't do well alone, they're more likely to be destructive if they're bored. They love cold weather, we have a pool and in the winter it freezes up and they get up there and run around on the ice...they somehow always know when its frozen solid enough. They're very fun dogs, I definitely recommend them.

Our first dog was a Husky he had icy blue eyes, we've picked him up from the local shelter. This dog was totally out of control and no matter how much we walked and exercised him he was hyper active, stubborn and destructive. In Jun he started shedding like crazy (in patches) so we put him outside where he wanted to be anyways. At nights he used to howl at the moon even when inside. We had him for about 4 months and after a replacing a new couch, a lot of expensive maintenance in the house and yard we took him back to the shelter. I think the dog was just too screwed up...

We used to have a husky! He was a great dog, but unfortunately he was hit by a car a couple of years ago. They are very protective dogs, but they are very smart and loyal to their owners too. They do shed A LOT when the seasons change--fur comes out in clumps! We could get almost a full trashbag full of fur at one brushing. They are very energetic and playfull dogs. I don't reccomend them around children though. Hope this helps. : )
