I adopted a Black Lab (Diego) yesterday. He is 2 y/o, and neutered. Every time he sniffs my Maltese (Tramp) in her privates, he whines like he is in pain or just very sad. Tramp is 8 months old, and is unaltered. I also have a 3 y/o Siberian husky (Lady) who is spayed. When Diego sniffs Lady, he doesn't whine at all. Does anyone know why he does this? This is my first male dog, so I don't know if this is a normal thing. Please, serious answers only. Thanks.

I live in a neighborhood that is filled with cayotes and where cats go missing all the time. A giant hill where the cayotes live connects to my backyard and I hear them howl sometimes. My two cats used to be outdoor cats, but then twice in a month a cayote came into my backyard in the middle of the day and would have killed the cats if they hadn't been out in the front yard. For the past year I have only let them out an hour a day and one of them is on a leash during that time (it runs away for hours when it is free). They have a large fenced in deck in the front that the cats can be on all day. The cats are happy when they go outside, but is that happiness worth the risk? I doubt your responses will change anything but your opinions still count.

why do people feel the need to say betta fish? is there another betta? like betta cats? I just don't understand it, people don't say zebra danio fish... so why the need to add fish on the end of betta? if they feel the need to specify why not betta splenden?

My nitrite levels have been high. I keep one betta per 3 gallon tank and I have two betta. They are in a tank that has a filter and activated carbon that came with the tank. Both tanks have a higher than normal nitrite level. I have taken some action to bring the level down. But, for the future, should I get additional filtration. For instance, I have seen form mats or something in the store that goes under the gravel. Please advise.

ok...yesterday, all my 7 fish(4 goldfish, 2 blackmoors and 1 angelfish) were doing really well since the time i bought them.which is around 3 months now.
then yesterday, i called someone from the fish store for aquarium maintainance.he came in the morning and cleaned the tank well, changed the water and added medicine.then, after a few hours, i noticed one of my goldfish was extemely weak.the rest of them were also very lathargic and none of them except the angelfish were behaving normally.slowly, 2 goldfish and 2 blackmoors died.the remaining 2 goldfish which are alive seem extremely weak.the goldfish didnt eat anything today..(usually, this one jumps up to eat when food is given).its obvious that they are going to die and i cant do anything about it.but its clearly the fault of this guy from the fish store.what should i do about it?? i want justice for this.
it pains me to see the fish suffer like this...
i used very clean aquagaurd water.

Please help! My adult (10 year old) dog is pooping/peeing upstairs in secret. He has never had this habit in the year that we have owned him. What could be causing him to do this and how can I break this growing habit other than sticking him outside? He has access to the backyard through 24/7 doggie doors. Any help would be great!!

I placed him in a tub of warm water with 2.5 cups of warm water and 1 cup of gin. At first he jumped a bit, i assume it stung a bit because he had a really bad flesh eating ick that wasn't going away. As his breathing started to decline blood started flowing out of his gills! I didn't read anything about blood and now I fear that I hurt this poor fish... Can anyone tell me what happened or what it might have experienced? Blood started flowing about 10 seconds after he went in the solution... Of course once I started I stayed the course and once his respiration seemed to stop I placed the whole tub int the freezer to make sure he passed.

The vet said her ears smelled yeasty and suggested that we buy an ear cleaning product from the pet store. But these things are pricey and I would like a home remedy if anyone has one and how do I clean them? I don't want to hurt her.

We feed her kibbles and chunks. We used to have two dogs and it was economical to buy them a big bag from Sam's club. But now there's only her and the vet says she needs to lose weight. Can anyone recommend a good dog food for her?

my two females have been very aggressive towards one another. for several weeks they have thrashed through the bars to get at one another and once they had a really bad fight and there was a lot of blood. one of them was pregnant and right after she had the babies the violence died down. i noticed that the young mother accepted the older female gently and they groomed one another peacefully. i thought everything was very idyllic until i saw the older female with pieces of baby in her mouth and blood all over her whiskers and hands. she ate one of the babies. i can understand why the older female did what she did but why did the younger female's behaviour change so much?

So, im going to change her diet, and do her water bottle half water, half flavorless pedialites, but she also lives with another dwarf hamster who doesnt have diabetes, do you think i should still switch the diet and water, or will it affect the healthy hamster negatively
