my kitten has just started cry and yelling before he goes into his litter box. AT first i thought he might have a bladder infection but he's not peeing anywhere but the box, and its cleaned daily...what could it be?? I did change his food recently.

As per earlier posts, my cat had surgery to remove an abdominal obstruction. He was offered food last night about 12-hours post-op and he declined. (He hasn't eaten since Sunday night.) This morning the vet called to say he did well last night despite not eating and could go home this afternoon or tomorrow. I chose to keep him there another night to see if he would eat. Did I make the right choice? Would he eat if he came home? Is it normal not to eat 12-hours post-op? And he's hissing at them now--he is not a hisser. Is this more an indication that he's getting worse or that he's getting his energy back and getting better and just doesn't want to be there. He also had a low fever (103)--he'd had a higher one (upwards of 104) before surgery. Thanks.

Hi, I have a cat that has recently came up to our house. It is shaky, very bony, seems to be dehydrated, won't move very much, when it rains, it just sits there and gets soaked. We have other cats, and one of them is fighting with it, so we brought it inside. It seems to be Very scared. any suggestions? Please help, we have no money to take it to the vet. Thanks!

My hamster bities me and she fights with her sister alot.
They are Dwarf hamsters. The one that bites climbs ot the top of the cage and nibbles at the bars. when i stick my hand in there it bites me and the other one only nibbles or doesnt bite. They are like acrobats or something because they either sleep or you see them on the cage climbing around.

I have a male unneutered cat who is 2 years old. He doesn't whine, fight, spray, breed (entirely indoor and likes it that way) and is the most affectionate cat I've encountered. Honestly, I know all there is to know about why I SHOULD neuter my cat so I ask that no one tell me about that, I promise I've done my homework. What I haven't found are any reasons not to and that worries me more than it comforts me. I know there are negative effects to having a major hormone-producing organ surgically removed, but no one will admit to any of them. The only thing I've heard is that cats may gain weight after being neutered because they won't be spending as much energy on humping and fighting and their personalities may change...they'll be more friendly. Yay. Those are backhanded answers. When a human goes in for any surgery there is a 3 page handout that covers all of the possible side-effects even for tonsilechtomies. All I want is similar information for my cat so I can be fully informed.

We have had our Bloodhound since he was 6 weeks old. He is now 11 weeks old. He is a great dog, until its time to get in his crate at night (or when we leave). We did pretty bad with him with the whole potty training deal. We didn't know this was wrong at but when our bh would pee we would rub his nose in it and said bad then put him in his crate. That is what we were taught. OK yall we know it is bad now. And now when he does it, we don't say anything, pick him up and put him outside til he does his buisness. But my problem is, he HATES going in his crate. He will pee in it. Give us no warning. I KNOW that he is scared to be in there. What can I do, for him to trust us, and for him to be comfortable in his crate? I honestly think he is peeing in his cage because he is scared. I want to build the trust with him again and I don't want him to be scared when he goes in there (and not pee!).

I have a betta in a small round bowl. There is no filtration system; just some gravel and an artificial plant. Please can you tell me when and how to change the water? Since I got him I have simply been 'topping up' the water when it evaporates.

She is the runt, and when her siblings rough house and such, she stays clear... is that a sign for her future temperment? She is part pitbull.

She is 3 years old, and loves digging through the garbage. I've only had her for 4 months, so I don't know if this is a new habit or not. Short of putting the garbage cans on counters, tables, etc., which is unsanitary, does anybody know of a solution to keep her from getting into the trash?

I have seen a behaviourist, but I want some wider advice- I won't use harsh methods, but the softly positive reward based stuff does not seem to be working at the moment. Can anyone help please?
