what do i do?....?

My puppy thinks that his squeaker toy is his name because he doesn't come to his name often but every time to the squeaker!!!!

That's an easy fix. Call his name 1st, THEN squeak the squeaker. If he'll take a treat (pre-arm yourself with something amazing : chicken, cheese, steak etc) reward him with the treat when he comes. If he doesn't want the food, but just wants his squeaker, then play with him with the toy. You may want to attach it to a string so it's easier to do this. Hide around the house and practice this game a lot, and you'll have a dog who will always come when he's called, since you've rewarded it so much. Remember : *name*, squeak! and soon you can leave out the squeak (but don't leave out the payment for coming when called)

teaching a pup his name is easy! just say it in an upbeat way and when he looks at you, give him a treat! if he comes to you when you say it, even better, make a big deal and give him more praise and treats. he'll get the idea quick! i have a feeling he comes to the squeaker because he likes the toy. do you give it to him when he comes? if so, then he's learned the squeak means he gets to play so he's coming for his toy. i don't think he thinks his name is "squeak!" :) good luck!

Everytime you call him give him a treat. The smaller the treat the better because once you give them the little piece they eat it fast and ready to do it again. Pet your dog and everything you call her and she looks up just give her a treat. Once you get that establish get 5ft away and call her. Also works great for other dog tricks.

try using dogie treats when you call him by his name use his name A LOT, He associates his name with the squeak of the toy .
