Hi, I have a cat that has recently came up to our house. It is shaky, very bony, seems to be dehydrated, won't move very much, when it rains, it just sits there and gets soaked. We have other cats, and one of them is fighting with it, so we brought it inside. It seems to be Very scared. any suggestions? Please help, we have no money to take it to the vet. Thanks!

I had a cat years ago that contracted a disease that sounds similar to that. The other cats in the neighbourhood that contracted it died but my 'Sudden' lived. We never did find out what it was but I force fed him ever 2 hours (luckily this happened over the Christmas holiday so I was home from school). Anyway, I sat with him for about an hour at a time, giving him tiny pieces of tuna and putting water and tuna juice on his nose to rehydrate him. We also separated him from our other cats (he stayed in my room) so that he could be alone and not infect the other cats. It took about a week but he again started to eat on his own. He was sooooo sick (literally near death) but I think making sure he got food energy and liquids to fight the infection saved him. If you do this for your kitty, and he pulls through, I bet he will become the most thankful cat you'll ever have! Goodluck

The cat is showing a sign of former abuse, just let the cat run freely around the house and every now and then just roll a ball in its direction, sooner or later it will realize that it is in a enviorment that it should not fear. The cat will open up and start to become playful. But it does take some time and a little caring on your part.

I think the cat is very sick. Take it to a vet, tell him it is a stray you took in. Tell him you don't have the money to pay him that day. I did this with a kitten I found that was very sick and the vet did not charge me. He told me if I had not brought it in when I did, the kitten would have died within 24 hours. See if you can find a good Vet like I did. I had never before gone to this Vet, I had just moved. For the sake of this poor suffering cat please try!

From what I can tell, your cat seems to be sick, extremely malnourished, and probably close to death. When cats haven't eaten for over a day they have a tough time keeping food down, if you don't have money for a vet you should ask someone who does to take it, they can put it on an IV and hopefully get it healthy enough to start taking solid food again and heal whatever illnesses it has. Otherwise, I am sorry to say, it will probably die.

Feed her small amounts of food often and make sure to have plenty of water dishes neaby so she can keep hydrated. Having a warm blanket to rest on and some reassuring petting letting her know she's going to be alright should help some. Good Luck!

You need to take it to the RSPCA then. It sounds like the poor creature has been abused and neglected. If someobdy can't get out to help it then please feed it up and keep it warm! Don't give it loads because it sounds like its starving and it will damage its stomach just little and often. Make sure it has somewhere warm and toasty to sleep maybe like a dark warm box where it will feel safe xx

Until you figure out what to do, keep it warm but apart from the other cats. It should go to the vet. If you can't afford a vet, give it to someone who can. Or to a no kill shelter.

You don't need money to take it to the vet if it is a stray. The vet will take care of it.

If you don't take it to the vet... start feeding him... or he will die from starvation. I have seen this happen... and it is not nice.
