dachshunds are very playful by nature but so are miniature schnauzers. Try going to you local humane society, SPCA or animal shelter and give a loving and deserving dog a second chance at a good and loving home

I have three mini dachshunds and they are very loyal and fun loving. But they are also very stubborn, harder to housebreak and very territorial. Also, anything left on the floor belongs to them!! You have to really love the breed.
I would go to the Humane Society and pick out a small dog. Don't pay money for a pure bred. My last dachshund came from the Humane Society. There are lots of dogs there waiting for a good home.
Also, watch what type of dog you get. Pitbulls are medium to smaller dogs but you will have a hard time finding anyone that will insure you with a pitbull. That also goes for some other types of dogs.

Pugs are small (they are in the Toy group). They are extremely good natured, great with kids, don't bark/yap too much, and don't need haircuts. They have a sense of humor and like to be silly. Pugs love people to death and will be your best friend.
Having a pug really is like having a big dog in a small package. You don't get that with any other small dog.
Make sure though if you get a pug, check for health issues right away such as luxating patella (knee problem). Also when they get spayed/neutered, have them do the surgery for elongated palate (simple surgery that is not too expensive) to avoid breathing issues later on.
Every breed has health issues that are prevalent among that particular breed. It's better to find/fix these things early. Also like someone else said, research the traits of the breeds you are interested in beforehand.

I recommend a West Highland Terrier as one of the best small playful dogs! They are smart, super friendly, and very fun! As far as a breed that looks like a puppy pitbull, maybe you're thinking of a Bull Terrier? They look like a lot like pits but don't get as big. I hope this helps!

It relies upon because canines are extra ideal for diverse human beings and diverse causes. i does not say that i love or dislike one or the different. operating example, human beings will commonly get better canines in the journey that they want a preserve canines, and human beings receives smaller canines in the journey that they want a kinfolk puppy. the in effortless words small canines that i truly don't like is a chiwawa.. they are aggressive and yappy and do not truly seem that good besides. in case you would call a staffy small then i do not recognize why you would say that you don't like them.. because a Staffy is between the most fantastic canines easily anybody may have. As for giant canines again, don't like ones which includes Rottweilers.. they are nasty. yet all of it comes all the way down to opinion and journey with canines i guess.

dauchsands are great dogs but can be very difficult to potty train.
i have a cocker spaniel and she weigh's about 20 #'s. she is very playful and dedicated to her family. in addition to her i have a boxer too; the most excellent dog for a big dog but a little stubbon.
before you get any dog make sure that you research their traits on the internet. that way you have a good idea what you are getting into beforehand.

For pure love and personality, I would say a shih tzu or a chihuahua. Chihuahuas are a little smarter, but the shih tzus are pure love. Both are playful well into their senior years and very good companions. The drawback is that neither do that well with small children.
