We just brought home a beautiful 9wo tricolor papillon puppy. So far she's been wonderful, but it hasn't even been twenty four hours yet so... yeah. Anyways, just a few minutes ago she reaked out on me, pooed, and then went back to playing lap dog. I'm confused, is it normal when they:

Jump at doors they've never been through yipping and scratching, followed by a near by wall and then squating and pooing in the corner? It worried me a bit, but she seems fine now.

And she's going to the vet tomorrow, so "take her to the vet" responses would be a little pointless. Anybody got any input?

My cat has started urinating on everything. He even did this to my daughter (she is 21, not a child). The other cats smell the spots that he has urinated on and are following suit. Not sure if he is marking his territory or not. Any suggestions? The cats are staying so don't even mention getting rid of them!

Pet ownership is an abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation."
-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, Washingtonian, August 1986

I don’t use the word "pet." I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer "companion animal." For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance."
-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA vice-president, quoted in The Harper's Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223.
"The cat, like the dog, must disappear..... We should cut the domestic cat free from our dominance by neutering, neutering, and more neutering, until our pathetic version of the cat ceases to exist."
Let us allow the dog to disappear from our brick and concrete jungles -- from our firesides, from the leather nooses and chains by which we enslave it."
-John Bryant, Fettered Kingdoms: An Examination of A Changing Ethic, PETA, 1982, p.15.

i'm sure they would but i wanted to be sure because sometimes different breeds just don't mix personality wise these dogs will NOT be kept for breeding they will become the family pets they will immediately be fixed microchipped and will get their shots and licence but i wanted to know if they'd get along so that way they'll have eachother as friendly companions while i'm at school till the time i get back and also i'm sure its easy walking both of them as puppies but when they get big is it wise to walk both at the same time? or should i take turns with them? or is there anyway i can train them to not pull too much while on the leash? well really i can handle big dogs on a leash but its better to be safe than sorry
so i was just wondering

thanks

2 ringnecked doves, one quite old and feeble, beak is crossed and should probably be trimmed? 2 budgies, 1 cockateil, 1 lovebird. It is my understanding that some of these birds are not really compatible, but they've been together 2 years, and seem to get along ok. They have been fed only wild bird seed, doesn't seem right to me. Can I put a potted tree in with them, instead of dead branches? Only the doves are tame, can I tame the others? I want to do right by these guys but they are not dogs or cats .......I don't even know what I don't know at this point!

I have a female puppy rott; she's approximately 10 months of age and was purchased from a breeder whens she was 3 months old. At the time we purchased the pup, she was already spoiled rotten: the owners let her run free of the house and chew everything up; she was untrained in every way. Now, 7 months later, she's been living with us the duration of that time. For the first few months of training, we kept her in a properly sized cage and let her out during the day, but kept her in at night. It went on like that until now because the dog was un-trainable. She wouldn't mind anyone and constantly pulled everyone down that had her on a leash-- especially me, the owner. Now, the current problem is: the dog is too big for the cage and we keep her out of it- she still won't listen and doesn't obey on the leash. She's constantly urinating everywhere and doesn't understand that that goes outside-- not in my kitchen. Can anyone, please, tell me why this is happening and how to prevent it?

lately my cat wont come near me. he was always very affectionate before. even slept on my chest at night. now he doesnt even want me to pet him. the behavioural change is only directed at me. my husband and son can still pet him. why is he acting this way. there is a chance that i could be pregnant. i havent taken a test but im wondering if the cat knows. could this be the cause of his strange behaviour. has anyone had a similar experience

I have had to take over the care and maintence of a kitten/small cat which was originally given to My next door neighbour's Grand-children. They were feeding it boiled rice and corn flakes in milk. It was left outside in the cold (I 'savlaged' it during a thunderstorm) in a cardboard box with a string around "It's" neck. The thing seems to be quite happy with Me. I have not given "It" a name yet because I had no intention or keeping "It'. The trouble is that the children have returned to Their parents (not cat owners) and I have been left holding the bag, so to speak. "It" is a black and white female and seems to be growing after every meal. I just give "It" (I really will have to give "It" a name, won't I?) water instead of milk and table scraps (mince, sausage, steak and canned sardines etc.). The thing is about 10 inches long (nose to base of the tail) and would appear to be healthy enough, albeit it always seems to be hungry. It has a ball to play with. What do I need to know?
