lately my cat wont come near me. he was always very affectionate before. even slept on my chest at night. now he doesnt even want me to pet him. the behavioural change is only directed at me. my husband and son can still pet him. why is he acting this way. there is a chance that i could be pregnant. i havent taken a test but im wondering if the cat knows. could this be the cause of his strange behaviour. has anyone had a similar experience

cats don't hate or love.
he's probably sensing your hormones and he's a little freaked out.

I have read many stories of pets knowing there owners were pregnant before they themselves took the test. (I am studying to be a Douala)
But the animal was more affectionate in most cases. So I am wondering if there is something else going on. Maybe your stressed over the thought of being pregnant. Or maybe even just the holiday season we just had.
Go get tested see if you are pregnant and then go from there.
Please stop worrying if he loved you before he will again soon when things are more well known and you can react to whatever situation it might be.

jealousy. it's the only thing that i could think of. You said you have a son though. So I'm not sure. I'm a bit concerned my cat's going to be the same way when I get pregnant.
