I saw on person who would make you a sweater out of your dog's fur on TV, and I thought it was crazy. Then, I got my hands on a slicker brush and attacked my long-heired cat with it, and the shed fur is so freaking soft. The more I think about it the better the idea sounds. Most of us fix our pets, so once they're gone all we're left with is maybe their tags. To have their shed fur collected over time, I think it could be treated like wool and made into yarn, and that would enable you to make something to remember your pet by.

It makes sense when you think about it, but think too hard and it sounds crazy. Either way, anyone know where you could get your cat/dog's fur turned into yarn?

I know there's at least one percon who does it, I saw her on animal planet. And no, I'm not collecting mr. Chip's fur yet.

I took him to the vet already. Vet suggested food allergy, wanted to put him on medication and food at $2.50 a pound. We can't afford all that. Here's the thing. I've been doing some research, and I think he's bored/having separation anxiety/depressed. I want to teach him to play, but he's very skittish (he's a shelter dog w/o a history) and he's too rough, he paws at me and scratches me up with his claws. He scares my 2 year old daughter. How do I teach him to play gently. He won't touch a toy or put his mouth on anything other than himself or a bone. What kinds of games can I play with him? He's big 85 pounds... we got him for my hubby, but he works all the time so I want to be able to play with him, but all I know is fetch.

I have been using Feline Pine with my kitten. I liked the idea that it was biodegrable and didn't cause the nasty litter dust that is said to cause respiratory problems in cats. The Feline Pine clumps nicely and is easy to scoop, but it really doesn't eliminate the smell. Has anyone found any biodegrable kitty litters that have worked for them? Any kitty litters period that eliminate smell well?

we're thinking of getting a dog and we have a small yard so it can't be a large dog. We had a cocker spaniel an he was great for the house and the kids. Prefer a smaller dog and not another spaniel

I came home from work with a soaked carpet yesterday, now I am trying to figure out what to do to get it fixed. There is a leak in the sump somewhere, I have about 120 lbs of live rock and only a couple of damsels. We have no idea why there is a leak, the tank isn't too old, not even a year old yet. Everything was bought new...the protein skimmer died on us, don't know why, but all the water levels were tested and everything was good so we haven't had that fixed or replaced. Any suggestions on how to take care of this leak we have acquired. Do I need to get this tank moved (this will be a nearly impossible daunting task) to get underneath? We have set up a dehumidifier and soaked up water with towels, we cannot get under the tank, but we have put towels all around the sump to collect water while we are out today. Could we empty the sump somehow and have it resealed? Or will we be just waiting for another leak to spring by dong that?

I am curious about this process, and if anyone can share experiences, good and bad. I am likely having a 10 week old Boxer pup shipped on an airplane. A few of my concerns are not picking the puppy up in its comfortable environment, and it just arriving terrified and traumatized. Could it effect the relationship with the dog? Is it silly for me to be concerned about these things? Any detail, warnings, reasons not to worry, etc, would be great.

My pygmy goat is due to kid around the twenty first of January, and I've heard that by checking the ligments at the base of the tail you can tell when they will go into labor. In previous years I have been able to check on her multiple times, but when I turned 18 I moved out. My parents promised to let me keep my pets there until I graduate from nursing school and can afford my own place in the country. So as of now I live 7 minutes away, and cannot drive out ten times a day for a week before she has the kids. It would be really helpful if someone could tell me what it feels like when the ligaments are completely gone. As of right now there is still maybe a half an inch of skin and muscle that I can feel when I pinch my fingers together at the base of her tail. Also, she has a history of triplets so I'm sure she will be earlier than her due date and I really don't want to miss the babies coming! She's a great mom, but I like to be there to make sure there are no complications.

My cat feels this insane need to lick my suede shoes and chew my shoelaces. Can anyone recommend a shoe storage solution that (a) isn't a total eyesore, and (b) that my cat won't be able to open? [Note, this is a cat that has figured out how to turn doorknobs and open heavy sliding-door closets]

My cat is 9 months old. He only goes #1 in the bathtub drain, basement drain, and in the toilet! He goes #2 in the litter box just fine. The only issue I have with this, is if he does it when no one is home the rinse it down it really smells the house up.

I clean out the litter box every day just in case that was the problem, but it isnt.

Does any one else have a cat that does this? If I cant stop him from doing it, is there something I can put in the drains that would hinder it from smelling if no one is there to "flush"?

He is docile, especially since we sold his brother. He is about 3 months old. He will go on the paper that we put out for him, but he doesn't seem too interested in using the great outdoors, especially since his brother departed.

I recently inherited a 7 yr old basset hound that smells so bad. I have heard it is their ears that cause the odor. What can you do to make this a little more bearable?
