There are several options. You did not indicate if the problem is when you are present, when you are absent or both. First I would make sure the dog is well socialized. Exposing your dog to many different situations and people. This will often help. If the problem persists a squirt bottle has been used by many trainers. A squirt of water to the nose will curb many dogs barking. Please note this requires training of the owner as well. You must be consistent with discipline. If you need control while you are away a citronella spray collar can provide control. Remember when you get your dog to do what you want, praise him/her. Making sure you reinforce good behavior is as important as punishing bad behavior.

well I have about three dogs now and I used to be in your shoes but not any more. what you first should try is find out what your dog is barking about then take the dog to that area but if it is barking at another dog take it to the obey pet store like pet smart and have them to retrain it and see how the dog's behavior is.
you can lay the dog to it side and tell it No with a forceful tone that is what I do to all my dogs and they stop.
A just a walk out side could help your dog to stop and another opposition call the dog whisper Cesar Millan.
Most of the time the dog just wants attention so you snap your finger just once and say No or A Shh! that mainly work all the time

Barking is a normal thing for dogs to do. It is their way of communicating. However, if your dog is barking constantly and is becoming a nuisance, you can train them to stop barking. The first thing to do is to train them to "speak" on command. Once this is learned, you can teach them the command to stop barking--which can then be used any time the dog barks. It is important, also, that if you are trying to get your dog to stop barking you do not yell at it in response. He takes the loudness of your voice as a response to his barking, and will think you're "talking" back to him.
If training doesn't work, there are a couple of other alternatives, but I don't like them. There are shock collars (which I REALLY) don't like, and there are collars which spray a mist of citrus scent into the dog's face when it barks. This will eventually train them to not vocalize--but I think it is better to train them to follow your command as well.

what is he barking at? He/she needs to learn who is in charge, when your dog barks you need to make a very loud NO! and praise him when he stops, When you see something that he is likely to bark at, distract him and then he wont see it, you can buy a can of air, called pet protector from good pets shops, it is around £10, but, every time your dog barks spray the can at him/her, (its only air so it wouldn't hurt your pet) and say NO! in a strong loud voice, he will learn very quickly that if you say no you really do mean no. Hope this helps, hard to as you have not stated what he/ she is barking at? If i can help any more, please feel free to use my 360 and send an email. Best of luck

What is it barking for? Boredom? Because people come round? or what? You may need to take it to a dog behaviour expert or training classes. Do you take your dog out regularly and play with it? Does it have access to the garden? Its hard to say what to do without knowing more.

use lemon juice...it seems cruel but it really does work. buy a little squirt bottle of it at the grocery store and then whenever your dog starts to bark insanely squirt a little into his mouth. they hate the taste of it. i used it on my dog when i was training him and now all i have to do is get out the bottle and he hates the taste so much he stops. eventually, u won't have to use it anymore! good luck

We tend to think of dog training as a series of steps for teaching particular behaviors. To teach a dog to stay in a particular position, you reward her as she remains in place for gradually longer times, at gradually greater distances, with gradually increasing degrees of distraction. Read more https://tr.im/uwPmA
Now, this is fine, training does involve teaching dogs specific behaviors with a step-by-step approach. This week, though, I’m going to discuss three mental habits that will not only enable you train more effectively but also make life pleasant for both you and your dog.

a vet can perform a special surgery so the dog won't be able to "have a voice" (a forgot the term), it's not dangerous really and it won't limit your dog from any other types of activities, I mean he'll still be a normal dog, except quiet
