hi, i have a pair of cocaktiels. They are set right beside the cage of the other breeding pair. I just got this pair so i dont know if they are bonded. I saw them preening each other and i also saw them inside the nest box together. Today the hen layed the first egg. When ever the male comes close to the nest, she attacks him now I havent seen them mating before. But about 8 days ago, i heard the chirping noises comming from the cage, i rushed to see what happen. As soon as i got there, they stoped chirping. They both were inside the nest when the noise was coming. Do cockatiel mate in the nest sometimes? I dont spend a lot of time with them, so i dont know if they are mated. I am worried because the female is a little aggresive. SOme times(before) i saw the female attacking the male inside the nest(i guess she was kicking him out). Is this normal?

we do not know what he may have done, we do not live close to the road for him to be hit, he stays in the house, could jumping off the bed have done this?

Is it possible to determine the difference between a pup that is "over-bred" or not physically or psychologically sound and a relatively healthy pup?

First off, Happy New year, and thank you to the previous people who helped me with Olivia, my Yorkshire Terrier. But, I yet again have an issue with her.

She always shakes and cowers after we watch a movie or play music, even if it's not very loud. She is going to be 7 months soon, and she weighs under 4 pounds as of now. She pants and paces nearby the doorway, or cowers to my mom's bedroom and sits in the same spot. We looked around and found nothing strange. She likes to go outside and she usually smells where males "marked" territory, and leaves a scent as well. We are not sure if she is in Heat or there is a psychological/physical issue. She has never acted up this way. We made an appointment for the vet, this behaviour has lasted for 3 days almost. We also think that maybe her teeth hurt? Her top teeth, I think, has the adult tooth growing over the baby one. Hard to describe, there's a straight tooth, then a smaller one curling backwards. Is the small one a baby tooth? Thanks!

I have one female cockatiel in her own cage and then 5 budgies in another (they are large cages/homes). I wanted to get a parrotlet but was wondering if it can go in the same cage as the budgies or not?

It began as a small spot about the size of a dime and now about a month later is about the size of a nickel. Last night we found another small area near his fron leg. He does seem to scratch at it. He is going to the vet tomarrow but I wanted to get some info on mange since I don't know much about it. The skin is intact. Does'nt mange cause blistering and the skin to open and weep? Also, how do they get it? He is up to date on all shots and otherwise very healthy. Any suggestions or info? Thanks!

My 5 month old cat keeps lying down, won't stop meowing or yowling or something. She's acting weak. Is she in heat? For how long will she be in heat? How much does it cost to get a cat spayed?

I have a malamute from Alaska who is approx 8 months old. For 1 week now she has been very sick with some form of unknown ailment. Vet said he did not know.. She has very high fever and acts as if back end of her had sustained some form of injury but I am sure she has not. She has been shedding quite alot and it is the dead of winter here. I also noticed tonight it looks like her pads on all paws is coming off which would explain her not wanting to get up and walk unless absolutely necessary. Any ideas?

Our family has never had a dog and we are thinking of getting one. The kids are almost all out of the house and it's just my wife and me. I am concerned I will get "stuck" with all the work. Is it really worth it? The family wants an Alaskan Malmute.

We have 2 ball pythons. Ever since we got the 1st one we'd find tiny black mites on him, 3 or so each time. We got our 2nd one & by the time we realized she was severely infested it was too late....the entire tank is this mite breeding ground. Even our almost mite-less snake is infested now. We have NO CLUE where they even come from...anyone know??? Also, how do we get rid of these irritating pests?!

My wife bought me a cockatiel for a late christmas present. We've had the cockatiel about about 5 days now. She got it from a petshop and it was not tame at all. When she brought it home it was hissing and trying to bite us. So, I put it in the cage. My wife took the bird out and said that cockatiels are not supposed to spend the majority of their time in a cage. She forced the bird to hang out with her most of the first day. And has had the bird on her shoulder now everyday all day except when she is cleaning and stuff. The bird is now very clingy to her. It follows her around and climbs up her body and back to her shoulder. It wants to stay there all day. My wife will say kisses and the thing puts it's beak to her mouth. I've told her that the bird isn't doing it because it loves her. It's doing it because it is afraid of her. My wife insists on petting it on its head and neck. The poor thing lays it's head down while she is doing this. Why doesn't she understand that she is hurting the poor thing? Not only that but today I witnessed something that was so scary. While my wife was eating rice and stew the bird perched on the side of her plate and she allowed it to eat from her plate!!!! RICE AND STEW!!?? Not only that she has been giving it cheese, lettuce, carrots, and all kinds of other stuff! She insists that bird seed isn't all that good and it needs other foods besides it. My wife will make this kissing noise and the poor thing will bob it's head up and down. I know it must hurt it's ears or something. Or else it wouldn't do that. all it wants to do is sit on peoples shoulders. She's going to kill this bird. How can I convince her to stop what she is doing?

ok my beagle is, well....fat. i still love her, but she getting on up in her years & when she sits she sits really slow & i know the extra weight is not helping. i even took her to the vet & he gave us some diet dog food. she lost about 4-5 pounds & then she would gain it back. i have her back on her regular dog food & i give her about a half a cup in the mornings & a half at night. she lost 10 pounds during the summer. but now shes gaining it back. i was wondering if i could give her anything like eggs or rice that could help her lose weight, you know something less fatty than dog food cuz thats really not working! do u know anything that i could give her?
