I read on here that if you put paprika in your yard it will keep stray cats out. Do you put it on the perimeter of your yard or what?? TY!

It is a male Panda Bear hamster and I have had him for 2 days. I have already gotten him a cage, food, chew sticks, and bedding. I even bought him an excercise ball to play in. Now that I have him all settled in, I've tried to pick him up to pet him, but he's still really leineant. Is there anything I can do to make him not so scared.?

I have read that temp needs to be taken for at least 3 min but the therm. that I use reads and stops in 60sec. Also a rectal temp is usually 1 degree higher in humans is it this way for dogs too? Or do I take the temp for face value of what it says. I am using a digital therm.

I am looking into getting a parrot. I have experience with them and I am not worried about having enough time to play with the bird. I will have plenty of time, and there are five people in my family so the bird is going to have lots of attention and plenty of activity. We also have many guests so he will be introduced to all sorts of new people while young.
My question is:
Which is the more outgoing and affectionate? The (blue fronted or other) Amazon or the African Grey? I've heard a ton of negative stuff about the Grey and some people have told me that the Amazon is really moody and becomes terrible around sexual maturity.

I'm attached to the Grey because of its intelligence and loyalty but all the negative information has me looking at the Umbrella Cockatoo and the Blue fronted Amazon. Are these other two breeds worthy equals to the Grey?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We have indoor cats and want a companion dog. We like the full size Yorkies. We have a 3 yr son and he loved playing with them.
Should I get One or Two? Or stagger them a few years?
Its just for a pet- they will be spayed. I think a female would be good? Any owners any ideas>

Do they shed or bark a lot? Do they need tons of grooming and exercise? Are they intelligent and friendly? Thanks!

I have a sheltie female who has been due in season/heat for about 2 months (so she is late) and recently had a urinary tract infection. we started her on antibiotics 2 days ago and today I had her on the table to get a urine sample, while I was feeling for her bladder, I felt 2 lumps about the size of walnuts.
First thought was stool, but I did a rectal and she was empty, second thought was bladder stone, but it was too big for her bladder, Third thought was that she had a silent heat and was bred by my stud male and these are puppies.
I need to know if I should get an x-ray, an ultrasound, or a pregnancy test, cause if the pregnancy test is negative I still don't know what it is, but If i get an ultrasound or x-ray, will the vet be able to tell if its a puppy or something else? Which test should I get, I can't get all of them, I'm a college student not made of money and please don't give me any stupid answers about how I shouldn't own dogs, I care for my dogs, I'm just not rich.

when dogs move their tail it usually means they are happy and excited but when cats move their tail it means they are agitated and pretty upset with something. Anyone know why?

We just lost our dog last week. He had meny health issues. We spent thousands on vet bills and although we don't expect issues with a new puppy, we would prefer to be prepared. You can't just sign up for the insurance when you have a problem.

Thanks for any help!

A few weeks ago I was walking to the library and there was a dog on leash going with a walk with his owner. This dog looked like it wanted to bite me and came close to me. However, it didn't bite me. As I passed it, I looked back to see that the dog was currently pulling on some flower and the owner was trying to drag the dog to get it to walk. I am worried that the dog may have gotten saliva on me and that I may have consumed it. ( I bought some snacks in the library and ate them) Is this likely and is the dog rabid or not?
