This was done I think as a joke. I am pissed. The cat seems okay. She has been cleaning herself more than normal today though. I want to get the stuff out before she she gets sick.

Depends on what he dyed her with. If it is food coloring it may have to grow out. If it is something oil based try some Dawn, she is not going to like it, but it will get the greasy stuff out if that is what it is. Your brother should be tarred and feathered! As cats are very, very, very sensitive to things put on their coats, that is why when flea stuff and things like that say do not use on cats it is because it can be absorbed thru their skin and kill them. If you cannot get it off I would consult first your brother to find out exactly what it is and then the vet to see if it is harmless.

Definately wash her a couple of times first with strong shampoo! The cat will more than likely hate you for it but the dye could kill her if she licks too much of it off! Watch her for vomiting too if she vomits more than once go to the vet! (once is ok its just a natural reaction to new stuff)
If its permanent, it should be safe after several shampoos and it will just shed and regrow, or you could shave her down and get it all off, not a good idea in the winter though!
If its temporary dye, it should shampoo out in a couple tries. See if you can find a box or bottle from the dye and read directions or call a help number.
Definately wash her and keep an eye on her! Good lucK!

Depends on what he used.
I color my dog all the time, and I do know other groomers who have colored cats.
As long as whatever he used was non toxic (like food coloring, kool-aid) then your cat will be fine. The color will fade with bathing , and over time. And she shouldn't have a problem with her cleaning herself.

If he used something more permanent..like human hair dye, then you may have to shave your cat down and let the hair re-grow. I would also worry about the cat licking herself with a human hair dye. I know certain hair dyes are fine for dogs, but dogs do not clean themselves like a cat does. And I really don't have a whole lot of experience coloring cats like I do with dogs other than cats are alot more sensitive to things than dogs are.
I would find out what he used, bathe the cat tonight, and get ahold of your vet in the am. And...whatever vet/grooming bills are incurred...make your brother pay for them!

AHH That was mean! I would find out what he used to dyd the cat so you can know if it is going to make the cat sick and you may have to call a vet. Maybe just some plain baby shampoo might work. Good Luck

I think your brother's a twisted little SOB. I suggest you take the cat, poor little thing to the vet immediately. And if she's cleaning herself, she could be getting some of that stuff into her system. Keep your cat away from that sick, metally unstable loser. I would file a complaint if I were you. Rediculous. Please follow my advice and take your cat to the vet, please.

I'm sorry to tell but, your cat is blue now.. You can dye your cat another though. Try to dye it as close to it's normal color as possible.
P.S
SLAP THE S**T OUT OF YOUR ROOM MATE FOR DOING SOMETHING SO STUPID.......

You just have to take the cat a bath. Or it will never come out.

You dont reply to this question with the same....how to get the dye out ....dye it more....No.,....not good. Take it to the vet and get a preofessional to help. I would stick to the breeders, vet techs, kennel owners...etc. They know what they are talking about. :-)
