Technically, spaying is neutering. The actual definition of neuter is to make an animal (male or female) incapable of breeding. For females, that procedure is called a spay which is the removal of the ovaries and uterus. For males, it's called castration which is the removal of the testes.

I think the term castration probably sounds a little harsh to most people, so it's become common practice to refer to it as neutering. That's why most people think that only male animals are neutered.

it's SPAYED not spaded. Females are spayed and males are neutered. To spay a cat means they are going to be fixed. A cat that is spayed has been already fixed.

Strictly speaking, either term is correct; but 'spay' is more commonly used for females. And it's 'spayed' not 'spaded.'

they are spayed and just so you know "spayed" is the past tense of spaying your cat, not spaded.
