How do a cat with the size body shape, coat length, and tail shape of a Ragdoll, but solid black, from head-to-toe (and no blue eyes), and another, nothing like one in *any* way, (who, by the way was the mother), also all-black, except for a tiny dab of a milk "moustache" and regular-length, non-"plumy" short-haired, skinny tail, (and also no blue eyes), end up producing a kitten that looks to an untrained eye in the breed (namely mine) only **more** like one with every day??? Beautiful blue eyes, long, soft hair, more affectionate than any of our other cats (neither of which are either of his parents - my cats are neutered and stay inside) -- long, blue "plumey" tail, blue legs and feet (except a white dot on each of the back feet), blue mask, and coat getting more interspersed with dark every day, practically, and now - about a week before his first birthday, still gaining size, too.
Can someone satisfy my curiosity on how he could come from the two cats above?

We just bought a Chocolate Lab pup (4 months) He seems to be afraid of the water. I'm worried that this will be a problem in the future because he was bought as a pet and a hunting dog. My last Lab loved the water from day one and was an excellent retrever. Any comments?

I have a 6 year old male cat. He lives indoors along with 3 female cats (all older) who have all been spayed. My male cat has never shown any sexual attraction to the mbefore, and I have never had a problem with him spraying things before. About 3 weeks ago we moved, and all the cats came with us. And since then the male has been humping one of the spayed female cats, and has been spraying furniture, and walls. He also makes this howling sounds, and follows this perticular cat everywhere, trying to hump her. HELP!!!!! Does anyone knoe how to stop this? Should I get him nuetured? Is he too old? Will that even make a difference? Is there something else that works? Please, I would GREATLY appreciate ANY AND ALL HELP!!!!!!!!!!

my b/f and i got a cat a few months ago and sometimes he plays too rough and other times he thinks he can climb the walls. some people told me getting him neutered would calm him down but it hasn't. he is 4 months old and bites really hard. we tried spraying him with a spray bottle but he only stops for a little while. what can i do and how long will it take?

The male cat keeps jumping on the female cat holding her down. I feel he is trying to hump her but my roommate says: since he has never had sex, he doesn't know what sex is. I say it is instinct and he is trying to hump her. Who is right?

I have a almost 2 year old male pomeranian. Technically its my sisters, but I have it with me 95% of the time. It still pees in the house! Is there a way for him to stop at this age? When I take it for a walk in the afternoon, it goes #2 and #1 but later in the night, it goes again!

My girlfriend and I are getting a dog in a week. The dog will be alone for part of the day during weekdays and a couple people have told us we should consider getting two because it's not that much more work and they will keep each other company during the day. Has anyone had any experience with two dogs that can verify this theory? Thanks!

My dog got her rabies shot and distemper shot about over a week ago. A couple days later she had several little knots on her left side where the vet gave the distemper shot in. They went away a couple days later. Now I have noticed that she has them on the right side, above her hip. She has a knot now that is on the left side that is about a size of a quarter. We have a coffee table and when she runs, she goes under it and hits her back. I was just wondering if the knot could of came from her hitting the coffee table or something else. I asked the breeder that I got her from about the little knots. She said she might be allergic to something or it was fleas. I have checked both her and my mom's dog for fleas and I only found 1 on my mom's dog. What should I do, wait a couple of days to see if the knots go down and if not, call the vet to make an appointment to get her checked out? Should I set off a flea bomb just in case there are fleas in the house?

I have been thinking about breeding Maltipoo's, but I got to thinking that maybe making up my own breed would be a better idea. I mean every breed came from wolves anyways, so someone had to make up every breed that we have now. I was thinking that since Siberian Huskys and German Shepards are such good working dogs, then mixing them would give the best of both dogs. There is a great breeder close to where I live that breeds those two dogs as well as Dobermans and Malamutes, so I know I can get good quality adults from this guy. How would I get the AKC to recognize that new breed?

My cat is pretty well-behaved, but I am not able to correct her. If she wants to do something, no matter how many times she gets in trouble, she always repeats the behavior. For example, no matter how many times she gets under foot and gets stepped on, she continues to get underfoot. She continues to break venician blinds, etc. The only thing I can do with her is cut off her access to things she breaks and whatnot, but my question is: What is it about cats that they don't change when their actions bring an undesired result for them? If a child gets in trouble, they likely stop repeating the behavior. So do dogs. What is it about cats?
