the problem with trying to get rid of fleas is getting rid of the eggs they lay in you carpet and other places in the house. by the time the eggs hatch the spray has lost most of it's potency. regular vacuums will not pull the eggs or the larva out of the carpet. you would need a Rainbow vacuum for that. it drowns the fleas in the water and has enough suction to pull the eggs and larva out. they give free demonstrations. when they came to my house you could see the fleas and all floating on top of the water. the best insecticide is powdered boric acid. it is not harmful to humans or pets in small quantities. you can even put it in your cabinets. get some and apply it to your carpet by throwing it on the top and using a push broome to work it in. the fleas die from breathing it into their bodies. it stays in the carpet and kills the eggs when they hatch and the larva before they become adult fleas. do not vacuum for at least 1 week. get the puppy a flea collar from seargents (i think). you have to shampoo the puppy from the tail up. once you have a good lather going put a ring of the suds around it's neck. then start at the tail and work your way up to the ring of suds. the water needs to be deep enough to almost touch it's belly. i live in the south and sand fleas are a constant battle for us. 2 dogs & a cat. this system has worked for us for over 20 years. ps don't foget under the bedsand the puppies bedding.

I just had the same problem about 2 months ago with my own 5 month old German Shepherd puppy, I went to his vet and bought these pills called Capstar for cats/dogs, you get 6 pills in foil for $14 and as soon as you give him one, within 30 minutes the fleas start dying and falling right off your dog. The fleas will keep dying and falling off for the next 4 hours and works even beyond that, the Capstar when it dissolves in their tummies, emits through the skin and releases it's chemical which kills fleas. It's okay, it's harmless to your pet. Then about 4 days later, I put a treatment of Frontline on him and he's still 'flea free' a month later. The Frontline treatment for 1 month was $12. Hope this helps ya, Good Luck.

Get flea stuff from the vet or take the puppy to a professional groomer. The Frontline works but you have to kill the fleas and their eggs. That often means a professional spraying/bombing of your house, keeping it closed up, and staying out of the house (you and the puppy). I don't know where you live, but I believe here in the Midwest, a hard freeze lasting a few days is about the only thing that kills the outside fleas.

Ask your vet for capstar. its a pill and kills every flea on your dog within 30 minutes. Then use Advantage (also from your vet) to keep them off, re-apply every 3 weeks. if you shampoo make sure its non detergent based so it wont wash off your flea control. easy as that :)
Oh! bio-spot and all the OTC flea products do not work. Even the Frontline and Advantage if its ordered of the internet can be ineffective. Make sure it comes from you veterinarian. A little more expensive but well worth it in the longrun.
good luck! :)

You have to get rid of fleas in the environment. They have a 21 day cycle and have to be killed in each stage (eggs/adults, etc). Did you spray something or did you have your home sprayed? Use Adams Flea and Tick Shampoo. Dust the area your puppy sleeps in with powdered sulphur. Dust the perimeter of your yard with sulphur. I keep Revolution (fleas, ticks, and heartworms) on all my dogs and you can start using it when they are about 4 months old. If your neighbors have fleas, you will have to be very vigilant to keep them out of your yard.

Frontine works but my dog still has fleas, i know you can get a frontline spray from your vet that works better than the drops.

talk to your vet, they can give you a pill that will kill the fleas on him but you still have to take care of the ones in your house and yard.

Try cedar shavings in the bedding, fleas do not like cedar.
