The vet said.... "You know she weighs almost 10 lbs. right?" I was too worried about other things to ask how much she SHOULD weigh.

Since we don't know the frame size of your kitty, I would call your vet and ask him what she should weigh. But OMG 10 lbs at 7 months is quite fat for a cat.

I've had several cats 9 - 12 lbs before they were a year old as with humans alot of this has to do with genetics and body type if your cat as active and seems fit I'm sure it will be fine i also had a cat who at 5 months only weighed 3 lbs but that was the breed of cat he was just keep an eye out for any signs of inactivity or physical difficulty i hope this helps

Normal is roughly about a pound a month so she should be about 7 pounds by now.

Really take her food into serious consideration. Grocery store foods are mostly 2/3 corn (the first three ingredients on the label). Corn is used to fatten slaughter animals and she is not a candidate for that!

Get foods like Natural Balance, Eagle Pack, Solid Gold, Felidae Platimum. Innova is an excellent food and it does have potatoes in it. My cats all gained weight with it. The other foods mentioned use brown rice as a "filler" and rice is not nearly as fattening as corn - think of those trim Asian types. Americans eat too much corn in all their foods, mostly as corn syrup which is used as a sweetener.

The foods mentioned also have high quality meat protein which will be more nourishing and satsifying to your cat in the long run.
Many of those foods are not more expensive than some of the grocery brands either. Even if it is 50 cents more a bag it is worth it long-term in better health.

Average size cats are about a pound per month of age up to the first 9-10 months of age. So if he's not overweight, then he will probably end up a good 14-16 lb boy at 2 yrs old. Be sure he's neutered now if he's not done.

It varies depending on the cat. I have two 5 month old kittens and they are at 7 1/2 lbs. Just by looking at them you can tell that they are going to be big cats (they are not fat) and will probably end up being 12-14 lbs when full grown. Their mom is a only 6 lbs and she is over a year old.

I wouldn't worry to much about the weight unless your kitten appears to be gaining to much weight and looks like it is fat.

That sounds feasible... but rare. Full grown cats weigh on average 6 - 12 lbs. (that's a healthy weight) So, you may have a slightly unaverage cat that will weigh healthily 12 - 13 lbs. We have an enourmous male who weighs 12 when he's borderline skinny. Hey, if your cat looks healthy and is not to big in the belly, I'd guess it's fine.

Different cats come in different sizes. I've had adult cats that look more like kittens in size and I've has tom cats that weigh 18 lbs. 10 lbs. does seem like alot though for such a young cat. You need to call your vet and ask how much she should weigh, that's their job! Also, could your cat be pregnant? They have been known to get pregnant this young. That's why they spay them younger know. Call your vet. Don't be afraid. No one can really answer your question on this site. They haven't seen your cat. Watch it's weight though. Obseity is bad for any animal or human and can cause horrible health problems.....

The general rule of thumb is 1 lb per month old up untill a year. But it depends on the build and size of the cat a small petite cat is going to weight less where as a bigger frame cat is going to weight more. Activity level plays a factor but if the vet didnt say she is overweight then im sure she is fine. i would just play with her a little more get her running around. A thiner cat is healther than a fat cat. As long as the thiner cat isnt malnurished.
